Has anyone ever tried to do Airwalk late back foot under flips? I've landed two of them very cleanly. One of which was on camera, I'm kind of frustrated though, b/c it just looks like I did an ollie airwalk fingerflip. Look closely at the video the third and foruth times and watch my hand. It doesn't actually flip the board but the board kind of bounced off of it.

I'll post a link to the video when it finishes uploading, but I have to warn you, at normal speed it looks so much like a finger flip I don't think it's worth doing. It's a gigantic AVI file though so it might be tomorrow.

How would you have invented it?

It's called.. Airwalk late back foot under flip, as you said.

I would have invented it because I may be the first person to do it. The name I listed is just the technical name for it.

Don't get your hopes up though, after slowing it down to 10% speed, it looks like the board is bouncing off of my hand, doing about half of a flip, then I finish the flip with my foot.

Just becuase your the first to do it doesn't mean you invented it xD

wait wait
so mullen didnt invent the kickflip?
if someone thought of jumping and making their skateboard spin in a similar motion..
your logic fails....

In the context provided, Invented=First to do it.

To Johnny

If someone thought of donig a kickflip first, they would have invented it, even if they have not done it.

That theory sucks.

**** that theory.

Loosen up and stop being so critical with my word choice. Whether I said I think "I'm the first to do it," or "I invented it," is completely irrelevant. You know what I'm talking about, and if you have nothing to say about the trick itself...there's no reason to post.

no
anyone can say anything
that doesnt mean they invent it....
you have to put your thoughts into action and acturally do the ****ing trick

i want to make my board flip completely forward and spin full 360
much like a circus wheel and make it land back under me
so it does a complete frontflip

i shall call it the circus flip

does that mean i invented it?

NO

Sorry dudes, it's gonna take forever to convert. I'll post the link tommorow after work.

Yea it does if noone thought about it.

Definiton of inventing since some of you don';t know what it means.
1archaic : find, discover
2: to devise by thinking : fabricate
3: to produce (as something useful) for the first time through the use of the imagination or of ingenious thinking and experiment

you fail

not to be rude
but were you droped on your head?

ANYBODY they dont even have to skate
and sit there and name off random flips on a skateboard claiming they invented them

i can spin my skateboard 450 catch it then through it back 90
i call it the boomarang

i can flip my skateboard two and a half times catch it in casper and spin it 1 and a half times back
its called a flipflop

I DIDNT INVENT IT
i have to acturally land it

im sure many freestylers thought of many tricks but didnt land them

also im sure many inventors thought
"that would be cool to see a picture travel through air and move on a box"
did they invent tv ?
NO
someone acturally had to do it...

The definition found in the dictionary has nothing to do with this thread. By your definition I may very well have been the person who invented it, if no one else ever thought of it.

Regardless of that fact you should be smart enough to equate invented with first to land given the context in my first post.

This argument is going to be so pointless when you guys see the video and realize the trick I did is in fact different, but it's so visually obscure that unless it's DRAMATICALLY slowed down it just looks like a finger flip.

A pointless argument? Aren't they all pointless..?

It's not really anargument more of me being ignorant and sarcastic and johnny getting all upset and insulting me over it

Damn...there was a problem loading the video. Take my word for it, it doesn't look any different from a finger flip unless you watch it 5 times very carefully in slow mo.

Invent: An invention is an object, process, or technique which displays an element of novelty. An invention may sometimes be based on earlier developments, collaborations or ideas, and the process of invention requires at least the awareness that an existing concept or method can be modified or ...

Invent: come up with (an idea, plan, explanation, theory, or principle) after a mental effort

sounds like both johnny and iskatezero are right. depends on how you look at the word "invent"

^^But really, if 'ineventing' a trick was just the process of thinking of it, then anyone can see someone doing a trick never seen before and claim it as their own.

back to subject...

would look extremly nice on cam if it is. im guessing the difficulty level is pretty high. Try and upload some nice ones.
Called the trick what u want, tbh ive never seen any one else do them.
example 360 kickflip
then called 3 flips
then tres
different names that everyone uses.
Meh
kl trick

I'll try to upload it again now, it's just going to be me doing it once in uber slow motion.

...sigh. I spent 30 minutes trying to get it on camera. Maybe it'd look cool if I actually did a full under flip.

really titles are only important for categorizing i just skate and do ish, I dont care much for titles, but when it comes to titling something its only for reference so people know WTF your talking about.

...and very crappy.

It would be really cool though if I could do it with a no handed ollie airwalk or actually do a full underflip.

Ya, your airwalk is a little weak there, so if you could up that a bit, and then get the full underflip that would be awesome. It's still really cool though, nice work man.

And as for the whole invention thing... Did Edison invent the lightbulb by saying, "hey, what if there were an object that lit up using electricity, so that you wouldn't need a candle?" NO, he created it. Thinking up something, is only the first part in inventing it.

arling777

Agreed. I have better airwalks, but I cranked this trick out within the first hour or so of trying them (ever), so I was more focused on the under flip.

I just invented every future skateboard trick ever. Because I just thought of them all. And they are all called the "pidgeon flip". Even the ones that don't flip.

But that airwalk underflip thing would be awesome out of a launch quarter onto flat, because you'd have heaps more time to extend out and then flip at the end.

06-19-2008, 04:32 PM
wow that trick looks so awesome! it would look even more awesome if you completely lost the fingerflip and just made it a whole underflip...but I'm sure you'll get that with time!

Schweet. It looks more like 1/4 fingerflip 3/4 underflip but still. I think you may be the first to do it.

But hey what do I know I'm just 15 year old kid posting on a forum at 9:31.
