ok so i just ordered a new setup because my old one was falling apart. I decided to order it not put together so I could learn do do it. I have my wheels and my trucks set up now I just need to grip it. this is my first time gripping so i have no idea how to do it but there's this black square on my board that says plan b and i wanted to cut the griptape so that would show up. what is the best way to do this?

If you just want the square in the middle of the grip, try measuring it out roughly, to see where it will be. I'd use a measuring tape so you don't end up with no grip on the one side of your deck. Then make a square cut out.

Maybe wait for some more responses from people who have done this before.
