View Full Version : Who do you think should be pro? am? sponsored?
johnny16tx 06-17-2008, 04:15 PM Just like the title says
who in freestyle do you think should be turned pro,am, or even just sponsored
i think sebastian H,marco sassi need to be pro
you?
arling777 06-17-2008, 04:29 PM Sebastian Heupel definitely...
FSBBD 06-17-2008, 04:33 PM I dont actually know much freestylers on a team
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiLgpc97uhI
but this guy should be sponsored
drtbk933 06-17-2008, 04:38 PM Joe Flemke should be at least an am if he isn't already.
johnny16tx 06-17-2008, 04:43 PM Joe Flemke should be at least an am if he isn't already.
hes pro
-_-
drtbk933 06-17-2008, 04:44 PM oh, I didn't know that. He is awesome.
bbengyak 06-17-2008, 04:51 PM This kid is definitely the best out there:

Did I fool anyone?
Alright on a more serious note I agree with you on Seba and Marco and maybe Cristobal Bahamonde should be pro too or at least hooked up better, he has so much creativity, style, and technicality.
Goke definitely needs to be sponsored, he's so damn smooth! There are others also like Mosti and Tyler who have a lot talent and potential. Problem is there is a lot of talent but not a lot of wealth to be spread around.
AntiHero777 06-17-2008, 04:56 PM Goke definitely needs to be sponsored, he's so damn smooth!
Isn't Gokey hooked up by small school?
bbengyak 06-17-2008, 04:57 PM ^Is he? I'm not entirely sure of everyone who is on SS anymore.
mainefreestyle 06-17-2008, 05:00 PM I Recall Someone saying Gokey's SS sponsership is on hold for now.... Or something
johnny16tx 06-17-2008, 05:00 PM i dont know whats allowed to be said now
but smallschool might look into a few new people
;)
ill let the people do the talking
girlsk8r 06-17-2008, 05:07 PM Yeah I'd say Brian, Gokey, Mosti, and Tyler definitely need to be sponsored if they don't already have any hook ups/connections. They are all very deserving of sponsorship in my eyes.
AntiHero777 06-17-2008, 05:07 PM Well, if he isn't he certainly deserves to be picked up by some company.
johnny16tx 06-17-2008, 05:21 PM gokey should get on little wheels
he likes ss
shouldnt be to hard
Merging doublepost
WOOPS

Minihub 06-17-2008, 05:39 PM Problem is there is a lot of talent but not a lot of wealth to be spread around.
Hit the nail on the head. Its hard enough to make it as a pro in the world of street, and there's a lot more oney to be had there. A lot of freestyle is non-profit.
Guess its just the nature of the game, pay to play:icon_2gun
dude gokey, callum, marco all need respect!!!!!!!:icon_bigg

oh is necro pro? hes awesome too!
DJ Hankey 06-17-2008, 06:27 PM Well for the person that should be sponsered or am is Michael Davis!
Just take a look at his sponser video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Cq_WArpmlWs
So the person that should turn pro is Antwon Dixon.

lazerflip 06-17-2008, 06:36 PM ^christian is an am.

Not gonna lie, theres a chance i may have repped you for that, haha.
bbengyak 06-17-2008, 08:34 PM ^Yeah, you did but I just couldn't believe it when I logged on and I had a +rep from Coryd55. One of the funniest things to happen to me over the internet. Truth be told it was actually really fun typing like that, people should try it more often.
dark-lion 06-17-2008, 08:35 PM when you think about it shouldnt Goke be pro instad of am cuz I mean hes so smooth and is just as good as some of the other pros out there
bbengyak 06-17-2008, 08:42 PM when you think about it shouldnt Goke be pro instad of am cuz I mean hes so smooth and is just as good as some of the other pros out there
Yeah, Goke's smooth but personally I wouldn't put him on the level of many of the pros out there. Not gonna lie Matt is a great skater with some great tricks and good style but when I think of pro level freestyle I think of guys like Terry Synnott, Michael Heller, Yoyo Schulz. Those guys have style, consistency, technicality and years of skating as well that lets them perform stuff at consistent level that I see as pro.
Tyler Self 06-17-2008, 08:48 PM Problem is there is a lot of talent but not a lot of wealth to be spread around.
That is exactly what I was thinking.
I know a lot of people who I think are worthy and deserving of sponsorship. Brian, Gokey, and Jesse come to mind. I'm sure a lot of people like some in the videos posted above that i've never heard of are great, but I know only of who I watch regularly.
I know Emily is getting up there too. Her potential is great, and she knows she could be really good if she kept going at it. I do remember showing my friend here who had been freestyling for awhile (quit after some time) one of her videos, and he said "she's pretty good for a girl." I said "She's better than most guys, what are you talking about?" (She is better than he was).
Anyway, I watched Callum's video awhile ago and I think he was approaching pro level at that time. If not, extremely close to it.
girlsk8r 06-17-2008, 09:02 PM ^^Aww thanks Tyler. That means a lot! :)
I totally agree with the "plenty of talent but not enough wealth to spread around" Hopefully one day that can change. :)
Connor Burke 06-17-2008, 09:33 PM i think that gokey shalt be thy pro

mainefreestyle 06-17-2008, 09:54 PM I agree, Gokey should be pro.... I think Dan Gesmer is pro and look at his moves, he does his moves with grace, he makes it look like a real art, as does Gokey... Matts Grace on the board makes Russ Howell seem correct. Freestyle should be an sport in the Olympics.....
freestyledog1 06-17-2008, 09:56 PM wait, seba's am still?
WHA! that's surprising
bbengyak, i think you are just as good, if not better (much better) than alot of the sponsored ams for FS i've seen

am, pro ... sposnored.... whatever that makes NONSENSE.
Sebastian talking about competition is PRO, Jari Paakkari and Marco Sassi too.
it makes sense talking about pro status in the comp level, otherwhise -.-
Compared to the guys from the 80s, none of the new freestyle skaters deserve the pro titel honestly. Have look at those perfect runs from back then, filled with flow and super hard tricks. WOOT!

Sometimes I don't think that is the fairest comparison. If companies were looking for people on the level of those guys, and one actually walked through their door, I don't think he would be what the company was looking for anyway.

I can't actually think of many skaters who are on the level of the Ams from the 80s (new freestylers here).
The whole discussion is slightly academic though. There are tons of people who "deserve" to be sponsored, hooked up, flowed, whatever, if you go on skill level. But there's no money in freestyle, and the companies can't afford to be sending out free stuff to everyone who gets good. *shrug* That's how the world works unfortunately.

 Easy for you to say, you're hooked up by Sk8kings.
Just joking, I actually agree with what you're saying.
Connor Burke 06-18-2008, 04:52 PM Sponsors don't matter guys. Everyone is thinks that getting sponsored makes everything easier, and it makes you seem like a better skater. But the sad part is thats not the truth.
HAHA NOT.
fogle 06-18-2008, 08:34 PM I think Chris and Sto should have been sponsored a loooong time ago!!!!
johnny16tx 06-18-2008, 08:37 PM I think Chris and Sto should have been sponsored a loooong time ago!!!!
they dont want to be
they skate for fun
arling777 06-18-2008, 09:15 PM What made the 80's generation of freestylers so much better than us? They freakin' ripped. I guess we have our late flips that weren't done (I think?) at the time...
Although I do love late flips : )... (This is not a stab at Dylan's last part.)
bbengyak 06-18-2008, 09:23 PM ^More experience is my guess. I know I can't name that many "new generation freestylers" that have been skating freestyle over 5 or 6 years. I'm just nearing 4 years of skating myself and 3 of that spent freestyling.
Panda 06-19-2008, 01:06 AM I really do wish one day soon fs will progress a ton. I know most fs companies are non profit and can't afford to travel, and do this and that with sponsoring ppl.
But I wish the world of freestyle had the same opportunity if not...close, to street and vert.
Not just sponsoring, I really don't care about that tbh, but getting into events, having fun with other freestylers.
Someone answer me this...
Who here can skate with a fellow freestyler anytime they want?
AND who here can skate with a street/vert skater?
I'm sure no one here or most everyone here, aren't able to skate with a fs everyday
But a street skater? I believe most of us will say yes.
Me...I don't know any actual freestylers, I know one guy from back in the day but I am not in contact with him or anything or know if he fs's.
Anyways my point being...I wanna see progression so that maybe one day all of us can skate with a fellow cafe'r and/or skate with just a regular passionate fs'r just like us :)
ramble ftw...or not.
