View Full Version : Boneless - What am I doing wrong?

Alright so I started skating a couple months ago and I'm pretty comfortable on the board and all that. I already searched the forums but didn't find anything that deals with this specifically.

Recently I've been trying to learn how to do a boneless. There are tons of guides/youtube videos all about the boneless, but somehow I keep ****ing it up.

Here's what I've been doing. I skate regular. First I bend down and grab the board with my right hand near the trucks on the tail end of the board. After I do that, I pick my front foot off the board, and try to plant it on the ground.

This is where I get screwed up. Almost every time when I step off the deck with my front foot, the nose slams wicked fast into the ground and jams my thumb. Either that or it feels like my front foot doesn't get off the deck as fast as I want, and the tail pops onto the ground before I even get my foot down...making me lose my balance and land on my ass

It looks wicked smooth and pretty easy to pull off on the videos I've seen. But I'm definitely missing something here. If anyone can point out what I'm doing wrong, give me some tips, or even write out their own steps to do a boneless, it'd be much appreciated. Nothing more frustrating than trying to pull of something that looks so simple yet screws you up every time!!!

move your hand farther up closer to the middle of the board.

and try putting more weight on your hand before you push off with your foot.

Put your front foot right on the edge of the board, so your toes are only just on, so your foot can get off the board faster.

It's not what I do, but it may help.

Okay try moving your hand up closer on the board, then take or slide off your foot off then like slide the tail up, sorta poping it, then jump, now land it, it took me a little while to learn them, but when i did they we're pretty easy.
