What's the difference, what are the advantages and disadvantages?

personal prefernces...I prefer small wheels so the board will be lower to the ground. though with bigger wheels its WAY easier to lock-up into grind (it helps you stay on the ledge sometimes). but I dunno, small wheels just feel better (:

just check that standart (between 52mm to 55mm) and then just skate em and check if you like em big or small. (not a good sentence at ALL LOL)

There's tons of advantages and disadvantages to each.

SMALL WHEELS:
- In most cases, lighter
- Places you closer to the ground, which lowers your center of gravity, which makes it easier to balance.
- Some will argue that the closer you are to the ground, the easier it is to get some pop (although others will beg to differ...)
- Most people say it's easier to do technical tricks on smaller wheels.
- Just based on the surface area alone, since the wheels are smaller, you'll feel every bump in the road. So most people will say that you need a nice, smooth surface to rock 50mm wheels on...

BIG WHEELS:
- bigger surface area, which means a smoother ride over rough surfaces
- bigger wheels are usually faster as well. My cruiser that has 62mm on it is like a f*ckin rocket. Fast fast fast.

Who do you ask bro? Are you deciding between some wheels?

^ Nah. I just can't decide what I like better, my old green Zero wheels which are about 40mm now or my newer Zero ones which are probally around 50mm now.

lighter?! haha you mean, the difference is like 0.00000000000000000000000000mg, its a joke.

I don't know about anyone else, but I personally don't give a crap about how high my board is, and how much my setup weighs. I run 54's now and I'm happy with them, but my next ones will definitely be the 58 or 60mm DTF's. I've had big wheels before and I just liked them a bit more, since they were smooth as hell. They didn't really affect my skating much... it just takes getting used to...I guess it's al personal preferance.

I believe the main difference is speed: the smaller the wheels, the slower you go.

Small wheels suck, big wheels are where it's at, you can do the same amount of tricks, and it has all the advantages, you can go faster and they don't get caught in every single crack on the floor. You just need to get used to them if you're not already then it's all good.

That's exactly what I thought. It just takes getting used to, and for the rest it's awsome. They just allow you to ride and enjoy more places. I don't think there is one single thing a 51mm wheel is better at than a 60mm wheel... of course if you get like 65mm's, that's a little off, but still possible.

But it might also just be personal preferance...

I usually like to keep it in the middle 52/53mm
I find no problems what so ever with them.

just buy 54/56 and if you don't like bigger wheels, skate alot and they will wear off
