A few weeks ago, me and my friend were at a camp out with some people from our church. She was starting to get sick so we decided to leave early, around 2PM. She wanted to go home because the pain was getting pretty bad.

We got in my car and I turned the key, but nothing happened. All the electrical things came on, my Voltmeter read 14V, and the AC started running. When I turned the key farther to try to start the car, everything turned off and it didn't make any sound at all. No clicking or bad starter sounds.

I messed around with the key for a while; then I experimented with different gears / clutch settings.. turned off all unneeded instruments, all to no avail. I'd try for a while, then just sit and wait for a few minutes to see if it'd fix itself - Every time I'd get the same silent no-start. I tried every variable imaginable.

So she suggested we pray. We took a few seconds aside and prayed, asking God to fix it for us, since she really needed to get home.

The next try, it started. Perfectly, like nothing had ever been wrong.

We drove back to my place to pickup some things, then stopped for gas. Of course.. the car chose to do the same thing. No start, no matter what I tried. I tried everything I could think of. I tried waiting a few seconds then trying, then waiting a few minutes then trying, and every single time it did the same thing.

So we prayed for a few seconds. Again. And praise God, it started the next try.

Lol. Thats weird how it randomly fixes itself and then stops. And then randomly starts again and then stops.

well i guess god is your starter haha but i think u should just have the engine checked out to see if anything is wrong with a wire or the starter

the EXACT same thing happened in this book i read called "West of Jesus". Funny how prayer works when all else fails, eh?

Sounds like your battery isn't holding enough of a charge, and God likes you.

It isn't the battery / alternator, that would have been an easy fix and was the first thing I checked - I have a voltmeter gauge in the dash and it read 14 volts solid. It'd dip to 0 when I tried to start it, though.

I took it to my friend and we checked it out.

I *think* it had something to do with a temp sensor. My radiator fan hadn't been coming on (we ran it until it should have overheated and the fan never came on). We unplugged the rad. temp sensor and shorted the plug with a hairpin - That made the fan run solid, and the car started / ran fine.

Also, we discovered a bad coolant hose; I had an oil leak that apparently "melted" part of the hose, giving it a bad seal. That explains why I would lose all of my coolant a day after filling it up.

This is an old car, so the surprise repairs never stop coming.

dang my boat wouldn't start today (dead battery) I should try that next time just to see if it works even though I most likely won't be in a emergency situation.
