Curious what you folks think?

First, do you think Bones are a decent brand of bearings.

Second, do you think the Swiss are over rated?

What bearings do folks here like?

I think Bones Reds are way overrated. Flip HKD abec 5 bearings last much longer with me then Bones Reds do.

They aren't. When taken proper cared of, Reds and Swiss are very good bearings. My reds lasted around 6 months and I recently bought swiss and they're awesome

Word. HKD's are so much better than bones.

My pair of Bones Red's lasted 1 1/2 months. I still have a pair of HKD's that spin for over 20 seconds that I had on my first real setup. (April 2005)

I think Bones is a good company but I normaly get ABEC 7 Rush which last me six months and my old Reds lasted about 6 months. So I think they are pretty much the same. As for Swiss I don't know.

i dont think theyre overrated at all..
it doesnt really matter though, i love them and they work the best for me out of any other bearings ive used.

me and two other people have had the same set of bones swiss labyrinths for almost 2 years

we have kinda shared them between ourselves
they get cleaned and lubed with speed cream once every 2 months or so
they are still like new


and bones reds arent to bad either ive had the same pair since march and they are still pretty good

modus are the best it took them 7 years to design and i have had my modus ceramics for a year and a half now and they are still quick as. bones reds are pretty bad i have to admit though it also depends on how often you skate and how often you clean them pluss aslo where you actualy skate.

I've never cleaned my bones haha but they soughta suck now :( going to get some new bearings real soon and hopefully trucks.

Bones Reds aren't the best but work well and are cheap. Bones Swiss are the best bearing you can buy on the market. I've had my Swiss Ceramics on my board for just about 9 months now with just a bit of cleaning now and then and they're still faster and smoother than a set of brand new Swiss. Bones is really the only good choice when it comes to wheels and bearings.

I don't think our skateshop sells bones. Which sucks.

i love my reds. i hate swiss, within a week i popped em out from riding on a rough road. they break too easy

Both aren't overrated.
They are two of the best bearings I ever rided.

(but the swiss could be a litle cheaper)

ive had lucky bearings, blackpanthers, and bone reds and i like the reds the most so there not overrated in my opinion

First of all red bones are not ever rated because they last a hell of a long time, there cheap and they are fast! But swiss bones are really over rated my freind had some and it broke like that.Also they are really expinsive, some websites sell them for like $100!

Bones Swiss are overrated, and too expensive, I had a set, wasn't worth it. My Bones reds have lasted pretty nicely though, they're definitely worth it.

But best brand I'd say, Lucky's.

I had a set of Lucky 7's I rode for a year and a half, then the shield came off from old age and having replaced wheels a couple times :p

My friend has reds abec 7 but i can still get more speed then him with my slightly bodged Fracture abec 7s. Not worth it if you ask me.

If not, it's not an apples to apples comparison.

bones are great, i have no idea why you would think FKDs are better and anything with an abec rating on it isnt as good as reds or swiss or ceramics.. but Rock N Rons ballistech bearings are damn good. better than swiss. not sure on the ceramics. Bones holds it down for sure. maybe a lesson in cleaning and care taking is in order. cause those things can last a DAMN long time.

and reds arent abec rated. so either your friend doesnt have reds... or just doesnt know.

i like bones reds because they work well and only cost $15ish

I like reds, but I've never tried anything else.

I'm on my second set of bones redz and they're fine. Sometimes my wheels don't roll very well but on other days they're fine. I don't really care.

For all of you Bones Reds lovers, y'all need to try some HKD's. I gauruntee you that they will last you twice as long.

Reds have got to be the best bang for the buck. I don't think any other bearing in that price range can really hold a candle to 'em. I haven't skated on ceramics... yet.

hmm i had bones reds, then i just randomly got some black panther abec 7's for free.. one of the shields popped from what? idk.. i'm riding all black panthers, with one mismatch wheel with like..crappy no name bearings. something from some mountain bike sore that my friend had, i have brand new CCS wheels waiting for me, but ima get some bones reds from the store, depending how much they are. that chick that runs it is a moron, so i should go to the half-decent skate shop aha ^^

i dont have the dang wrench to tighten my wheels, err... change them, so i gotta change 'em, then i'll get some bones reds in a week or so (i've wasted too much money lately -.-)
