View Full Version : Ive wondered this for a while
Shorty's_Kid 06-23-2008, 10:14 PM Might be a stupid question, idk, it's just something that's always been in my mind.
According to the bible, the only correct way is through jesus, correct?
Well, Jesus was a jew. So, Wouldn't the correct way be judaism, and not christianity?
There's probably something i'm missing, but that's why i'm asking, to see what i'm missing. :)
Derrick14 06-23-2008, 10:14 PM jesus was jewish?
zerohalo21 06-23-2008, 10:21 PM jesus was jewish?
Yep he sure was
Tyler Self 06-23-2008, 10:30 PM Trevor...when talking about Judaism and Christianity, it's easy to get on the habit of distinguishing them. In actuality, they are one in the same. If a Jew was to 'convert' to Christianity, he would not be converting from one faith to a completely different one. In fact, I think for years even after Jesus died, the earliest 'christians' were still baptized Jewish.
It's not that they are different and one is right and one is wrong, they are the same.
...only Jesus fulfilled the law. Jesus is the sacrificial lamb. He is our sin sacrifice. Everything in the Jewish law is representative of the New Covenant in Jesus blood.
glidenhi 06-24-2008, 12:01 AM Hi...Trevor. This is the Bible's answer to your question. This verse...from the following passage of scripture....is the key:
For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery, lest you be wise in your own estimation, that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fulness of the Gentiles has come in; {26} and thus all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, "THE DELIVERER WILL COME FROM ZION, HE WILL REMOVE UNGODLINESS FROM JACOB." {27} "AND THIS IS MY COVENANT WITH THEM, WHEN I TAKE AWAY THEIR SINS."
(Rom 11:7-32 NASB) What then? That which Israel is seeking for, it has not obtained, but those who were chosen obtained it, and the rest were hardened; {8} just as it is written, "GOD GAVE THEM A SPIRIT OF STUPOR, EYES TO SEE NOT AND EARS TO HEAR NOT, DOWN TO THIS VERY DAY." {9} And David says, "LET THEIR TABLE BECOME A SNARE AND A TRAP, AND A STUMBLING BLOCK AND A RETRIBUTION TO THEM. {10} "LET THEIR EYES BE DARKENED TO SEE NOT, AND BEND THEIR BACKS FOREVER." {11} I say then, they did not stumble so as to fall, did they? May it never be! But by their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make them jealous. {12} Now if their transgression be riches for the world and their failure be riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their fulfillment be! {13} But I am speaking to you who are Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, {14} if somehow I might move to jealousy my fellow countrymen and save some of them. {15} For if their rejection be the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? {16} And if the first piece of dough be holy, the lump is also; and if the root be holy, the branches are too. {17} But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became partaker with them of the rich root of the olive tree, {18} do not be arrogant toward the branches; but if you are arrogant, remember that it is not you who supports the root, but the root supports you. {19} You will say then, "Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in." {20} Quite right, they were broken off for their unbelief, but you stand by your faith. Do not be conceited, but fear; {21} for if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will He spare you. {22} Behold then the kindness and severity of God; to those who fell, severity, but to you, God's kindness, if you continue in His kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off. {23} And they also, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in; for God is able to graft them in again. {24} For if you were cut off from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more shall these who are the natural branches be grafted into their own olive tree? {25} For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery, lest you be wise in your own estimation, that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fulness of the Gentiles has come in; {26} and thus all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, "THE DELIVERER WILL COME FROM ZION, HE WILL REMOVE UNGODLINESS FROM JACOB." {27} "AND THIS IS MY COVENANT WITH THEM, WHEN I TAKE AWAY THEIR SINS." {28} From the standpoint of the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but from the standpoint of God's choice they are beloved for the sake of the fathers; {29} for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. {30} For just as you once were disobedient to God, but now have been shown mercy because of their disobedience, {31} so these also now have been disobedient, in order that because of the mercy shown to you they also may now be shown mercy. {32} For God has shut up all in disobedience that He might show mercy to all.
Trevor.....this is not a comfortable passage of scripture to live with. I don't understand the concept of "hardening"......but I believe in and trust God as my creator and my savior; and I am willing to let God be God and submit to His will for me and for the world. I can do this because of His demonstration of His love for me and for the world in Jesus Christ.

FreestyleFred 06-25-2008, 01:17 AM As was already said, don't think of them as being separate. Think of Christ as the sort of concluding sequel to Judaism. Judaism waited for God to send a means of atonement and Christ was that means. But Judaism without Christ is simply to believe only the first chapter and deny the second.
Shorty's_Kid 06-25-2008, 12:33 PM Alright, I get it now. I've seriously been wondering that for almost 2 years.
I'm lame. haha.

sk.......if you're lame, we're all in trouble!!
Shorty's_Kid 06-29-2008, 06:42 AM ^Haha, I DO have a Bipartite Patella. Which makes me lame.
Bipartite Patella = Two bones in my kneecap never fused together when I was a baby, so I've basically had a broken kneecap for my whole life, which is why I've had so many knee problems. Only 1% of the population gets it, and not even 1/4th of that percentage even gets symptoms from it.
Which I guess makes me not-lame, since my situation is so unique!
glidenhi 06-29-2008, 10:04 PM ^ ....sounds familiar. I have hypermobile patellae. Both kneecaps displace laterally 90 degrees unless I wear some serious knee braces when doing sports. I was born that way, and exercise doesn't help...it makes them more wiggly. That's why I chose skateboarding and snowboarding over in-line skates and skiing. I have to keep my feet together...no twists. No problem though in skateboarding....with proper bracing...but yours sounds worse than mine.
Anyway...I'm more concerned about your hip than your knee. Check this out and note there is an age limit (18).....so don't wait too late for free medical help.

Agree
Jesus made Judaism obsolete. The New Testament clearly ended Judaism and established faith in Jesus (Christianity) as the only way to the Father.
(John 14:1-6, Ephesians 2:8-9)

Yeah, exactly

Speaking of my hip, Both of them just went out of place yesterday. I took a really hard/awkward fall on my box, knocked em both loose.
I might end up needing that place for my knee more than my hip. My hip problems are due to weak muscles around them, my knee is the true orthopedic problem.
When I go to the chiropractor next, I'm going to start dong a bunch of exercises for the muscles around my hips. If it doesn't help at all, I'll look into that place more. :)
glidenhi 07-01-2008, 07:31 AM ^ I'm happy you have a plan, sk. The sport would be a lot poorer without you, and I know how much it means to you. I think your parents are pretty sensative to let you continue skateboarding with the physical problems you are experiencing. I think you are fearless too. Respect.
