View Full Version : How often do you replace your hardware? OldBallsNJ 06-25-2008, 10:33 AM With every deck change, or just re-use it till it breaks? Sonix 06-25-2008, 10:48 AM Sometimes I re-use old ones and sometimes I buy new ones. I buy new ones around every second or third deck. I have a lot with me when I skate though, so I can change them if they break. .snOWFalls. 06-25-2008, 10:49 AM With every deck change. That's the benefit of living in a 1st world country. Ya can get new hardware for each deck ;) GNAR 06-25-2008, 11:06 AM I rarely change hardware, actually. I just have like 3 full sets, and if some break, I just get an extra one. MysterySk8er3 06-26-2008, 02:40 PM The only time I ever change hardware is if I get a new complete. I have never had any of my hardware break so I've never had to replace any. jayadams 06-26-2008, 02:45 PM I've had the same deck for 3 years, so I haven't really changed any of my hardware. My bearings are good, my autobahns are fine and I have spare pigs, my trucks are beautiful, and overall I love my setup. No need to change nada. CitySk8er 06-27-2008, 04:50 PM Hardly ever. I change hardware every time I buy a complete board which isnt that often doubleheel16 06-27-2008, 05:12 PM i always change hardware when i get a new deck since it only cost a dollar extra to get new shorty's 1'' hardware iamsocool132 06-27-2008, 05:15 PM when 2 or more break. I like colored shortys hardwear :) alienworkshp321 06-27-2008, 05:33 PM i never even knew that hardware could break you must have to skate pretty hard jeff65 06-27-2008, 05:37 PM i never knew hardware could brake? either your pushing the 200 pound mark or your using your skateboard for more than just skating. I change it when the tips start to cave so you always knows you can always take it off again, which ends up being every 2-3 decks. Plus I'm cool with the guy at the local skateshop and he usually just gives it to me for free blindskater1213 06-27-2008, 10:01 PM when it breaks, or doesnt stay tight R Heng 06-28-2008, 12:49 AM until they stop turning...so i've had my reds for quite a long time. But i think i should replace them soon. haha erase_the_doubt 06-28-2008, 12:57 AM I usually just change them when they break, i have like 70+ pieces that i have gathered over the years though. I always keep a lot of extra stuff with me in case something does break. I hate trucks that shake on the board, its annoying and ****s me up. lilro 06-28-2008, 01:41 AM whenever i feel like having new colors.(like once a year) Rhys__skate 06-28-2008, 02:28 AM never had to replace my hardware coreyduffelson! 06-28-2008, 03:27 AM i usually just re-use them, but obviously if i get a new complete i'll get new ones then use those from there on out. blankskate22 06-28-2008, 03:16 PM I buy hardware with every new deck. I mean its 2 bucks. Changing stripped hardware sucks... OldBallsNJ 06-30-2008, 09:41 AM Does anyone know the difference between SHorts, and Shorty's "Lil' Hardware"? Besides $2 in price difference? I've noticed that the "Lil" hardware has bigger heads on it, which I like. Seems like I can tighten it more. Anyway, I'm just blabbing about details now. I gotta shuttup and go skate tonight. 0ocircao0 07-15-2008, 02:07 AM I never strip my hardwear, so i can go along time until they break. ForumSkater 07-17-2008, 06:59 PM I just replace them with every deck change because I never have any problems with them normally and when I get a new deck I just think "why not?" because... well... it's a new deck. Geissler 07-27-2008, 06:07 PM I change it when the head of the screw wears out. Shouldn't really happen, to be honest - would it kill them to make it out of a tougher metal? Meh, I guess better to mash the hardware than your screwdriver! BTW, surprisingly enough you can buy hardware in hardware stores on the cheap. Just bring in a spare nut and screw to show 'em and you're in. Truteno 08-02-2008, 01:27 AM when i buy a complete or until i cant tighten them anymore cause they got striped lol Pooper Scooper 08-09-2008, 02:31 AM when it breaks stlouischamps 08-09-2008, 03:12 AM when i lose one cause i like having all the same size hardware Derrick14 08-09-2008, 04:28 AM when it breaks or every 5-6 decks chitty 08-09-2008, 06:49 AM Mainly when I feel the need to have new hardware. swordman540 08-09-2008, 07:35 AM When it breaks or falls off 505088K 08-10-2008, 12:12 PM When I break my deck. McMega 08-10-2008, 12:17 PM I have like 3 or 4 sets so whenever one of the screws breaks or gets stripped i replace it. Sk8_Alchemist 08-10-2008, 12:37 PM lol I havnt switched my Independent hardware for more then a year, exept I think for one bolt that fall off. I dont see any reason do switch them exept for falling off/breaking, and good hardware mostly dont break. |
