So i just heard on the news that the local park is closing. Just goes to show you what happens when stupid kids cant keep things in decent condition. There is graffiti all over the park. they cant put trash cans down there cause people just mess them up. they used to have lights, but people threw rock at them and broke them all out. and it sits off the road, behind a building, and the cops say they cant see it from the road, so they dont bother to get out of their cars and walk down to it, so they say they cant patrol it so it needs to be closed.


so ****ing gay. i cant even comprehend. my best friend (guy who started me skating) was one of the petitioners back 5 years ago, who got the park built...he is furious. They said they do not have any plans for moving it or anything yet. just closing it. for good.


there are 3 (soon to be 2) skatparks in the area, and my local one was the only park i liked. the others are stupid, Wasena's copings stick out so far you cant do anything (they are not set into the ramp, they are just bolted on the tops), and their street area is a joke. Salem's vert ramps were put in upside down instead of tranny then vert, you hit vert then tranny so they are very very very steep, i know people who are GREAT skaters, and can barely drop in on them.

Local park is less than 5 minutes from my house, wasena is 15, and salem is 30.

Oh, btw im probably gonna get a little bit of footy at the park tonite since it will likely be the last time i get to skate it. It closes on July 1.

Maybe ionstead of closing the park they should sell it to someone?

Sure you'd have to pay a dollar or so to get in, but it'd be worth it to have a skatepark.

Man, thats too bad. But remember, park skating isn't everything. In my town, our park has been trashed to the point of being unskatable so many times that my friends and I had to find other places to skate. Just go "exploring" with your friends and find some new spots to skate. Even if you don't think there are any, believe me, there are. I live in a small town and we still find fun spots to skate.

is it wood ramps or like metal ones bolted to the ground? if so get people to go un bolt the ramps and jake em one night

well at least you can build your own stuff now so its right at home. the stuff i built i actually took from skateparks, like a kicker that slides into a platform, then a 4 set that slides under the platform. so i can move them all around too. you should really consider that, i love skting at my house

compared to some parks, that graffiti is nothing. and the trash normally just comes with the trade... a skatepark cant be perfect. if they spent that much to get it there, they should spend a little in upkeep.

Man, that sucks. Good luck finding some good spots to skate. Be creative, look at things differently. That curb just isn't the end of a sidewalk, it's a ledge waiting to be grinded on. Neither is that bench. Ohh and look at those stairs behind the hardware store..:icon_wink
