It doesn't mean he sucks but I to hate how he runs from everything. I saw the fight with him and ortiz to and you could tell ortiz was getting pissed. He was throwing his hands up and saying something but you couldn't hear him.

I don't have room to talk though. One punch from him or any of them for that matter and I would probably be in a coma.

Tom

Lyoto fought the Ortiz fight by the book to win. He knew Ortiz out powered him atleast 3 to 1. If he went in to exchange some serious fists, he knew he'd get hit harder. He went in there to win without getting seriously hurt, nor seriously hurting Ortiz. It's a hard strategy to maintain, but he pulled it off. He did just enough to win without risking an ass whooping...which, Ortiz would have definetly gave him if he played by Ortiz's rules.

This is true. But ortiz knew coming into the fight, that's how he fights. So he should of been able to adapt and win as any true champion would. This goes for anyone who fought and will fight him.

Lesnar won tonight, but in my opinion he still doesnt belong in the UFC. He took ground control but really, he didnt do a whole hell of a lot. A few hard punches and thats really it. He never advanced his position, he just laid ontop of herring. GSP defended his title, and as was rumored for weeks now, GsP/Penn2 slated for November in Montreal :)

At first i was like no you..... but then i realized when am i gonna see these fights right? Anyways i was hoping Fitch would win but GSP is a beast. And Lesner needed this win so maybe this will get him pumped and work on his boxing more. And tell me Florian won. :)

Nice man you get to watch the Iceman and Rich Franklin beat down there opponents.

*On a side note*
To bad Fitch didn't break the record.

Ray you lucky bastard!! You're gonna have SUCH a good time! Iceman/Rashad and Franklin/Hamil. Such a good card just from those two bouts!

And yes, Kenny won :)
Also, Fitch took a beating, but he took it with style. GsP kept hammering, but he couldn't tame fitch through the fight. That man just wouldn't stay down! He put up a lot of heart into the fight, and he deserves all the respect people give him. 5 rounds with GsP, taking a beating round after round and not getting knocked out or submitted. Great fight!

And one more thing, Cheick kongo, beast of a man. Once again destroyed his opponent!

Andrew Jay

Tom
08-11-2008, 12:34 AM
I just have a deep hate for Lesnar's "fighting technique". My buddy I saw the fight with liked that match too, but I personaly don't see how people can like Lesnar. His upper body is so huge that once he gets ontop of his opponent, in ANY position, the guy on the bottom wont be able to get him off simply cause of his weight distribution. Thats all that the Herring/Lesnar fight was. Les would throw a few hits standing up, take Herring down and pretty much lie ontop of him while throwing a hit here or there, but he really made no advancements once he was ontop. Sure, it's scoring him points, but it's not really entertaining.
Now I know he's constantly learning better ground game, but at the moment I can't stand watching him fight. He's too big to be in the UFC

Andrew Jay
08-11-2008, 02:59 AM
I guess DT likes when a 285lb man is sitting on top of another guy. Jk haha.
Lesnar vs Kongo would be worth watching.

razz
08-11-2008, 03:11 AM
Lesnar fight was the best of the night, but if he doesnt work on his ground game and just lies on top of his opponent like that he's going to experience another 'Frank Mir' very soon.

Tom
08-11-2008, 12:44 PM
Lesnar's fight the best? Far from it! I'd go even as far as to say the Kongo fight was better. The only mildly exciting part of the Lesnar fight was when he knocked Herring down in the first few seconds and herring did a backwards summersault or whatever it was. The rest of the fight was just lesnar lying ontop of Herring most of the time, not advancing at all. The Fitch/GsP fight was 100 times more excitign to watch, if not more.

I dont think it matters now if Chuck wanted to take on Kimbo. After the KO he got from Evans, I sadly don't see him having a long career ahead. He's already 38, I see a soon retirement, atleast that'd be in his best interest before he suffers any serious injury fighting.

direct from mmamania:

“… two gunman held [Lloyd] Irvin, his son, wife and UFC light heavyweight contender Brandon Vera at gun point while demanding to be directed towards valuables like cash or jewelry. While one gunman held Irvin’s family hostage, another gunman directed Irvin to the the master bedroom. According to Irvin, he led the gunman toward his bedroom. Once in the bedroom, Irvin said he noticed the other gunman was far enough away down the hall to make a move to disarm the attacker in his bedroom. Irvin, an expert in Sambo defensive gun and knife techniques, was able to get a hold of the gun in the attacker’s hands, first separating the clip from the gun and then removing the gun from the attacker’s hands. At that point, the attacker in Irvin’s room ran yelling to his accomplice that Irvin had his gun and both gunman fled the house…. Police were called to the scene and have launched an investigation. According to Irvin, no one in his family was physically hurt, although the psychological trauma at this point is considerable.”
