TheNoComplyKid 06-30-2008, 11:18 PM Yeah, once I even managed to land something that I never thought I could. I attempt things that are way beyond my skill, one out of a million I land them. But, you never know.
The only thing is that I never ever try insane stuff (that I won't land) down any kind of set/drop.
Andrew Jay 06-30-2008, 11:57 PM Time to time. Normally i test it.
arejayismyname 07-01-2008, 12:09 AM that things gigantic, and yeah.
i never thought id be able to ollie, look at me now.
ive come a long way... =]
lilro 07-01-2008, 12:27 AM when its something new, i always test it. but i've always wanted to be skating to get somewhere and boom, there's a 8 set and ollie it and keep on going to my destination..

R Heng 07-01-2008, 12:59 AM what do you mean by test out a spot? like land first try or what?
jayadams 07-01-2008, 01:45 AM what do you mean by test out a spot? like land first try or what?
Was wondering the same thing?
When I try something big like a 8 stair or something, I just talk myself out of my fears, go for it and land it.

no like roll up to it a couple times, throw my self down it w/o a board, etc.
Sonix 07-01-2008, 02:31 AM Yea I just go to the spot, examine it a little. Take speed and jump without board (this is for not-so-big sized stuff) then next try I just pop the hell out of my board.
erase_the_doubt 07-01-2008, 02:45 AM I do it alot, but not only with gaps and stuff, just flatground stuff to see if i can, so i can have experience with it when i go to learn the trick. Like I tried a 3 Flat 3, knowing i couldn't land it, just so i could have the experience. needless to say i made it to the bottom and kicked out, = Heel bruises. so i ddint try it again.
And wowo, that is gigantuant Dylan, you have to get it.

erase_the_doubt 07-01-2008, 03:09 AM Ouch, bet the last one where you landed on the curb killed your ankles/heels.
ForumSkater 07-01-2008, 04:44 AM I once tried to ollie a dirt gap I knew I couldn't, but I really went for it and landed with 3/4th's of my board still in the gap, fell, and cut up my wrists real bad (and no, I'm not emo.)
J-Ros 07-01-2008, 05:59 AM I tried ollieng a double 3 stair once, without knowing how fast i should go.. it went horrable :(

misled user 07-01-2008, 06:16 AM Haha, S*it man is your mouth alright? what are the odds of that happening! Haha!
Dylan, i reckon you've got that if you commit to an ollie keeping at that speed, keep us updated! Yer, I've gone for a bunch of stair sets that i havn't judged or knew i couldn't land and then realized exactly how big they were and just bailed. Although sometimes not thinking about it pays off!
jonnym 07-01-2008, 07:12 AM If Im ollieing a set I usually just stick it first try to see what happens.
If its anything else I eye it up.
hokus pokus 07-01-2008, 08:54 AM i was out skating with some new friends i just met in this little town and we were skating a church that had one of those huge satellite dishes, sticking out of the parking lot, which looked like a sick parking lot gap, just ollie behind the dish.
i roll with full speed and determination, ollie, clear past the the satellite dish, only to see broken cement blocks.
i didnt bail, but fell.
i get up with a grin, my new friends thought i was psycho, then one of them look down and stated "you're bleeding!" i look down and i guess my arm hit a center block.
now i have a scar about 10" long going down my left arm...
J-Ros 07-01-2008, 03:02 PM Haha, S*it man is your mouth alright?
The board hit me in the back of my head.. which gave me a good headache for the next 3 days.. the most trouble i had with my ankle (my back one.. it came on top of the lowest 3-stair), and i bruised my rib.. i fell on my own arm below the whole set.. i never tried that stairset anymore.. lol
FS Jordan BS 07-01-2008, 03:04 PM sick gap
earlier today i tryed to ollie a ten. when i know i can only do a 3-4. it was fun :)
fallenNJzero 07-02-2008, 10:10 AM yeh some kids i was with were makin fun of me for not doing it, and i knew i couldn, so when i tried i actually clipped the curb. so i tried it again and got it =] but get footy of that gap!
alienworkshp321 07-02-2008, 10:53 AM i test it because i cant aford to get injuredd
Highawk 07-02-2008, 10:54 AM Theres this eight flat three i've been looking at for awhile, but i've never done anything nearly as big so it freaks me out. There's plunty of ride up room a nice big landing. Yet I can't get myself off the top. I think I might try it once I go there again.
That gap is quite insane.
Sometimes when I watch you skate I don't think wwjd or wwfsmd, but wwdjd.
nervous 07-02-2008, 11:03 AM I tried ollieng a double 3 stair once, without knowing how fast i should go.. it went horrable :(
KZZgFP4G_rs
nice 360 shuvit face smack to late 360 shuv late double flip
s k a t e r 07-02-2008, 02:21 PM Thats a Huge gap!! i think ollies are way eaiser then boneless haahh
lemons7 07-03-2008, 01:55 PM just becouse nobody wants to step to it..
I do. But I don't live in Texas. ;______;
I was trying this ssfs biggy over like, a flat gap over stairs? Ya know? But the landing was really a bank going down with the stairs? Like....
-----_VVVVV
Ollie from the left, that drop is the stairs, and the V are the bank, pointing down like how it slants. Yeah, so I was trying a ssfs biggy, with the only notion that since I have barely any switch, might as well try and get something else. Never happened, but I stomped like 10 bs biggys. Ahah, I hate switch.
erase_the_doubt 07-03-2008, 02:05 PM Lemons that has to be the most in depth explanation that i dont understand.. i love your little drawing with characters though, LOL
Supersonix6 07-04-2008, 06:18 AM My whole perception of tricks is really different from my friends. For example, I ollied this 8 stair in a skate plaza, and immediatley after that I went for the 360 flip. I knew I wouldnt land it but why not try. My friends are like , "why don't you 180 it, or kickflip it first".
Usually when I try something over my head, I usually end up getting close to it and actually sticking it. If you try something you know you can't do and actually get close to it, that can open up a whole new door of tricks for you.
nochoz 07-04-2008, 10:47 AM yeah man, i dont ever just try something and kick out on purpose. if u kick out, your going to fall, so why dont you just fall while trying it? theres a gap kinda like the one u boneless(around the size) and everyone was like "it'd be cool if someone ollied that" i go to the top of it, didnt even roll up to look at it, i just went balls out. i got it in a few tries, no worries. DONT ever just halfass something, always go for it
PrimoSlide 07-04-2008, 11:45 AM wow thats a pretty crazy gap right there.
mcdanny 07-04-2008, 02:11 PM man i cant do anything first try unless im really siked about it this gap is too big for mee so i wouldnt try it
Volcomsk8 07-04-2008, 02:16 PM I tried to back blunt a waxed curb. I almost did it too. But i bailed.

i do the same think
we were skating this six and i ollied it first try. and then immediatly after i go for fs flip, and my friends are like "why dont you just kickflip it" like a buncha shoebies. so after like 6 tries i landed it.
lemons7 07-04-2008, 02:44 PM Lemons that has to be the most in depth explanation that i dont understand.. i love your little drawing with characters though, LOL
Ahah yeah. If I had the tape, I'd at least vid grab it. But the tape is like, 45 minutes away and the spot is just as far.
But hey, I was trying to bs smith this park "hand"rail, it's almost the height of a reg rail, like a 6, but iunno why I was going for a bs smith, I can't bs smith rails like, at all.
R Heng 07-04-2008, 02:46 PM If Im ollieing a set I usually just stick it first try to see what happens.
If its anything else I eye it up.
Same, but i usually know i won't land it first try, but i try anyways.
RIP_BOB_GNARLY 07-05-2008, 05:45 PM I tried to ollie a 7 a long time ago. Now, I think I could get it in around 20 or so tries.
misled user 07-07-2008, 01:32 AM yeah man, i dont ever just try something and kick out on purpose. if u kick out, your going to fall, so why dont you just fall while trying it? DONT ever just halfass something, always go for it
Easier said than done to be honest, It's your natural instincts just to 'run away' or skateboardings case 'bail' from something that your nervous or scared of that might end up in pain. Doing these sorts of tricks is usually so much easier than actually getting your head around it to gain the confidence needed.
heartagram695 07-07-2008, 03:39 AM today me and my friend went to this place weve skated before and it has 3 loading docks, one with a short run up about the size of a 5 stair, one with a longer run up and the same size maybe a bit bigger and then one thats kinda like a kicker about the size of a 7 or 8 stair. i decided i would try to ollie the biggest dock even though ive only ollied a 6 stair before. theres this grate thing right before the end of the ledge though and that was making it hard for me to get the right timing to pop and clear it. once i actually hit the grate with my front wheels and ended up just flying over the edge of the dock without my board. i tried it about 10 times and then gave up. it hurt my feet
Sk8_Alchemist 07-07-2008, 08:32 AM I tried to FS popshove a gap even though I cant ever FS popshove a stair LOL actually I was pretty close but I stopped trying cause it was dam scary
that gap not that big O: I bet you can ollie it if you will take enough speed..its not that high
FSBBD 07-07-2008, 08:01 PM I tried switch dropping in this one halfpipe; slammed on my knees
WootSnorlax 07-08-2008, 12:21 PM i tried to do a 2-flat-3-flat-2... i coulda made it with more confidence but i was scared and nervous so i landed on the flat and i was in manual so it kinda hurt my ankle so i didn't try again.
BobbyGanoosh 07-10-2008, 02:53 PM always. thats how you get better
cha-BANG 07-10-2008, 04:21 PM it depends on what it is, really. if you don't check out a rail, they can often be really sketchy, you have to at least see if it's slideable first ;)
flip tricks, i just try till i get it. sets, i always ollie it first just to make sure i know what i'm doing, how fast to go, ect.
Chamaleon 07-10-2008, 05:10 PM like 2 days ago i tried to indy down a thing that is like.. uhh 7 ft? and after commiting i got pretty close :) i landed but i slipped out and when i was finally getting it i got kicked out lol
xxWIskaterxx 07-10-2008, 05:13 PM thats a big ass gap o0
well everytime i try to adapt to something hat looks fun, it never works for me. in my opinion virginia isnt the best place to skate
Skate1PlanB 07-13-2008, 02:47 PM yeah back when i was a noob (still am) but when i had a walmart deck
i was like k i'll just drop in it cant be that hard like whats the worse that
could happen then i broke my wrist and scarred myself emotionally for life haha
RIP_BOB_GNARLY 07-13-2008, 05:33 PM I tried to ollie this big grass gap today. It was like 4 feet long with a 2 foot drop, and had 10 feet at the most of run up. It was at a church and the pasture came and kicked me and my friend out later on, so we had to skate 3 miles back to my house.
fallenNJzero 07-13-2008, 08:21 PM yeah a day after i kickflipped my first 2, me and my friends went to another friends house to skate. hes got a 5, and my friends were throwing tricks down it, when all i could do is ollie it. i decided for the hell of it to kickflip it. five tries later, i got it bolts
yeah, me and my friends found this loading dock behind food lion and it had 2 slanted ledges going down one side of it. so i just went up to one of them and tried to fs boardslide it and fell on my face.
Epic Fail Guy! 07-16-2008, 11:23 PM Uh, no. I don't think
MattxLustt 07-19-2008, 03:46 PM once.
it usually works out better that way, because you don't have time to think of what could happen
cha-BANG 07-19-2008, 06:01 PM theres this gap that i found and i tried to ollie it and i landed at the end of the grass and went forward what my friend said was like 10 feet :) i cleared the down in the air rofl
he said i flew through the air like an autistic baby ^^
STLOUISCHAMPS 07-21-2008, 02:57 AM at a skatepark i tried to ollie a four and i had only ollied a four once i got close the first try so i kept doing it every time my back truck and wheels would land on the last stair once i landed it then fell really hard and i tried one more time didnt land it so i left
Geissler 07-22-2008, 05:43 AM Yeah, I did a no-comply impossible after a few tries one day. Never been able to repeat the experience o_o
You people are crazy tho- I would never get ambitious on stair sets, because of the bigger potential of smashing yourself up. whenever I've been attacking stair sets it's guaranteed that my feet will end up hurting - a lot.
bartman 07-25-2008, 12:47 AM Holy, thats HUGE!! That'd be SICK if you ollie that man! Good luck when you do, and please get FOOTY
alienworkshp321 07-28-2008, 09:03 AM not usually and that is a huge gap to boneless awesome job man
Lukeaxx 07-30-2008, 06:38 PM I did the same thing.. I was just riding and rode into a carpark.. this carpark had a lovely grassy bank.. I just had to ollie over it.. I didnt land it the first time but the second time i got it.
