View Full Version : long time learning a trick
dyelax 07-03-2008, 05:33 PM Hey guys I started learning bs pop-shovits at the beginning of may and I've been practicing them every day since then but i can still only land 5 or 6 a day. should it be taking this long? has this happened to anyone else?
Chamaleon 07-03-2008, 05:38 PM well it took long to me to get them consistent.. but after a while i got them consistent and i can do them like nothing now and i hardly miss one, i did 7x in a row a couple of months ago :)
just keep practising and you'll eventually get it
dude. i've been working on tre flips for the past 4 months hahahaha
it takes time learning new stuff.
dyelax 07-03-2008, 05:51 PM how long did it take you, and how long a day did you practice them?
Also thanks for the encouragement ace +rep
Highawk 07-03-2008, 06:00 PM I've been trying to get kickflips consistent for the last 3 or 4 months and then tres for about 2 or so. I havn't got a tre yet.
how long did it take you, and how long a day did you practice them?
Also thanks for the encouragement ace +rep
well. i am still working on my tres. i land one every now and then.
i usually skate about 15 hours every week.
so i guess you divide that to 1-2 hours a day.
but its all how you pace yourself. don't push too hard or you might hurt yourself.
the best technique is if you don't land something, try it a little bit different. then eventually you'll find the best technique for doing them.
Volcomsk8 07-03-2008, 06:13 PM You wont believe how long it took me learn kickflips. I swear.
s k a t e r 07-04-2008, 12:29 AM kickflips came naturally too me. but tres took like 5 months and i get like 5 out of 10. heel flips are still inconsistent for me and ive been doing them forever., full cabs are really easy tho. learn them ahah
AlienWorks 07-05-2008, 10:54 PM kickflips took me so long, wow. its different for different people.
but dude if your confident that your pop shove it's will spin around, then just, spot them up and commit and youll have them consistant and down in no time.
sk858619 07-06-2008, 12:46 PM just dont worry about not landing it.
focus on jumping forward and being over your board.
cha-BANG 07-06-2008, 05:12 PM tre flip is DEFINITELY the hardest trick to get down consistent. takes MONTHS of trying. even if you don't feel like you're even close, or you just feel discouraged, just get back up and do it again! take a rest for a bit, just think about something else for a little while. go back to your trick, and you'll be much more relaxed, and you won't be all tensed up over nothing ;)
good luck with your trick!
punkybambi 07-06-2008, 05:37 PM depends on you all the time and things like that
yep with laserflips took my 2 weeks and i practice 8 hours a day and that was just one landed, getting them consitant is a bastard but i'm getting there....I can land 4/10 now so pretty happy....Keep practicing
alienworkshp321 07-15-2008, 07:49 AM yea dont worry just keep practicing. some days when i dont skate for a day ill still have troubles with kickflips and wont land any for the first 15 minutes
Crazeh 07-15-2008, 08:17 AM It takes a while..
But sometimes you should just try learning another trick, and still learn the shuvs.
It also might help "pretending" you know the trick persistent,
and just nail it.
Happens to me all the time :P
hokus pokus 07-15-2008, 08:55 AM Hey guys I started learning bs pop-shovits at the beginning of may and I've been practicing them every day since then but i can still only land 5 or 6 a day. should it be taking this long? has this happened to anyone else?
are you still having problems with it?
i have to see it to get the picture of what you might be doing wrong...
remember, your shoulders have A LOT to do with your tricks, keep them parallel with you board.
learn to pop the board in front of you and keep your front foot over the board the whole time.
catch with your front foot first, this is the ultimate secret on this trick.
good luck and have fun skating
TheGambler 07-15-2008, 04:38 PM The only advice I can offer is to not try the one trick too much in a row. You're better off trying it for a while, then a break (from that trick) then coming back to it fresh. Not only will this help your state of mind, it'll stop you from destrying the specific muscles that the trick uses.
heartagram695 07-17-2008, 02:53 AM ^this guy has it right. dont get frustrated just because you cant get a trick. you might be able to tomorrow or the next day but just have fun skating and youll be good
