PrimoSlide 07-09-2008, 09:35 AM Probably the best story i have ever heard.

o yea thanks for that.
Berishman 07-09-2008, 09:44 AM hhmm, thats a nice legend. Got a link to proof that it actually happened? Even if it did happen, seriously, he dropped the chalk too close to himself, ZOMG IT LYKE MUST HAVE BEEN GAWD! no.

Why does everybody always say wheres the proof when they hear something about god? this isnt about proof its about believing.
Berishman 07-09-2008, 09:58 AM ^I know that, but the impression I got from watching that was that whoever wrote it all down in the first place was simply making up a fun little story.
TemperMode 07-09-2008, 10:09 AM I don't believe or disbelieve in God. But I do believe that it is wrong to make up stories to try and convert people. And this story was obviously fabricated.
Berishman 07-09-2008, 10:10 AM ^Thank you.
:)
Naive 07-09-2008, 10:31 AM it does sound like it could have been made up, but if its true or not the professor was an idiot. i dont think that's the way to prove god doesnt exist, with no one standing up cause they're afraid and at the end throwing a chalk on the flour.
it didnt really get me thinking, i thought a bit stupid really.
lol @ the professor running out of the classroom, clearly that's what a professor of 20 years (who I'm assuming must've earned himself tenure by then) would do.
Yup :icon_yes:
ISkateZero 07-09-2008, 06:18 PM I'm sorry that video is so stupid. It even said the chalk roleld down his leg and hit his shoe. That's why it didn't break.. -_-
/fail.
Paul J 07-09-2008, 06:25 PM I was expecting the chalk to stop and levitate. Epic fail by them to say it was god, hahaha awesome.
Kowycz 07-09-2008, 07:33 PM lol @ the professor running out of the classroom, clearly that's what a professor of 20 years (who I'm assuming must've earned himself tenure by then) would do.
Yup :icon_yes: I can just picture him running out crying, lawl.
I heard there was this one story EXACTLY like that one but he said "If God is real then why doesn't he strike me off of the podium unto which I stand?" And a student came up and pushed him off and told him God didn't have time to do that when there is so much suffering in the world?
bbengyak 07-09-2008, 09:41 PM lol @ the professor running out of the classroom, clearly that's what a professor of 20 years (who I'm assuming must've earned himself tenure by then) would do.
Yup
There is also the ridiculousness that anyone would think that a university would let a professor spend a WHOLE semester preaching his religious beliefs and why others should believe them instead of actually teaching the philosophy class as he was supposed to be doing.
jakedaskater 07-09-2008, 09:44 PM thats the best story you've ever heard? LAME

Actually, my girlfriends father is a philosophy prof and he does that all the time. I guess not the whole semester though. Ha ha.
bbengyak 07-09-2008, 10:07 PM ^I know it would be one thing to go over the possibility of it would be philosophical but to spend a whole semester saying God doesn't exist as a fact and saying you have proof by dropping chalk, that really isn't very philosophical.
trickeyboarder2 07-09-2008, 11:32 PM ^Yeah, if I had a philosophy professor like that i would drop the class. Philosophers should just provoke thought and show ways of how to think and tackle problems, and then let the students decide things on their own.
You mean to tell me that 300 college students sat there and listened to that stupid freshman talk about his belief in Jesus for 30 minutes after class? pppfffff! There's a simple solution, pick the piece of chalk up and drop it again. If there is a God, I think it should be able to stop chalk from breaking twice in a row don't you? Although, it is a bit of a daunting task. Mad props for the mook who wrote the bit about the professor running out of his own classroom. If you're going to make up a story to convert people to your belief, at least use some creative skill. Jesus Christ people! (for the lack of a better phrase) I feel sorry for your fragile mind if your life is changed by this smut.
My theory: little did Mr. Big shot stereotypical loud mouth atheist professor know that young freshman Johnny Christian placed a trick piece of chalk on professors desk that morning. The kind of trick chalk that somehow defies the laws of physics by clinging to clothing and rolling down one's pant legs then rolling onto one's shoe then rolling onto the floor without breaking into at least two pieces. It really is amazing stuff.
zeroNYskater 07-10-2008, 03:59 AM Orange.
.snOWFalls. 07-10-2008, 07:51 AM that's some damn good quality chalk!
they dont make **** like this anymore
martha, order us another batch will ya
Ford Prefect 07-10-2008, 09:03 AM the song was unbelievably cheesy. it (the video) was just vague enough to be potentially possible, but not really useful either.
fogle 07-10-2008, 07:21 PM It didn't really provoke thought in me...what wold have made me start thinking would be if the student who stood up ended up catching the chalk, thus showing that God is in those who believe and he is shown through their actions. That would have been a way more thougt-provoking story!!
