View Full Version : Ok tell me this...
Now supposedly you follow the bible and be faithful you go to Heaven, and you don't you die and burn in hell....
....well what about people who can't really understand it.
Such as my brother, he has down syndrome, he definitely could not comprehend faith, or too believe or not....and well in life he kinda got screwed with having Down's Syndrome.....so well this is my question..
Because he doesn't believe in god, or really can't will he burn in hell as well?
RobinNowSkates 07-18-2008, 05:19 PM i don't know but that is a good question!
i am sure some people will think he goes to heaven like me and some might believe he goes to hell
Skaterbabe15 07-18-2008, 05:22 PM well since he was born with down syndrome, he is considered a "sin". but since he doesn't understand faith or any of that, there is a chance that he will go to hell (if there really is a hell) i'm not religious or anything, this is just what my friend told me, who happens to be REALLY religious.
Yeah, thats what I'm wondering....he has lived his life completely right(in the best he can)...and technically he was already doomed at the beginning, by be given a mental illness, and well if he has to burn in hell for the rest of eternity, I'm gonna have to speak to God and his little son Jesus....
I don't care if I burn, if I do, then I did something wrong, but see my brother couldn't help it, and he also can't comprehend faith, so yeah if he burns, I'm gonna be a tad bit pissed.
Merging doublepost

See thats bullsh*t....because my random genetics he was born with an awful mental disorder such as Down Syndrome, he automatically has a one way ticket to Hell.....God the bible is f*cked up.
One more thing...Will he still have to have Down Syndrome, if he supposedly went into Heaven? Or does he become a clear, cleansed soul, without disorders, and get to live eternity without the weight of mental instability...
Skaterbabe15 07-18-2008, 05:25 PM well since he can't comprehend the religion that your family practices, then he may not go to hell or heaven. he could be cremated, and then have reincarnation (i think thats it.. lmao)
well you really can't tell if he burns or not when he dies.. lol.
Berishman 07-18-2008, 05:26 PM Yeah, thats what I'm wondering....he has lived his life completely right(in the best he can)...and technically he was already doomed at the beginning, by be given a mental illness, and well if he has to burn in hell for the rest of eternity, I'm gonna have to speak to God and his little son Jesus....

Don't worry about it dude.
Neither one of you are going to hell... or heaven.
If you have any interest I have a few books I'd like to suggest to you.
:)
Skaterbabe15 07-18-2008, 05:26 PM i'm just saying.. like i don't know if its true
its just what most of my religious friends tell me.. soo yea.
I'm not religious at all, or any of my family, except my grandfather.
But I mean I get to pick and choose if I do or don't go to the supposed Heaven or Hell. He doesn't, and well I really wouldn't want to think of him all dead in hell for eternity.
Skaterbabe15 07-18-2008, 05:36 PM yea i know what you mean.
but its his choice, and whether or not he goes to hell or heaven, or just dies and goes to neither and goes to some other place, he will be fine.
you just have to trust his choice and trust that he will be okay.
Berishman 07-18-2008, 05:40 PM yea i know what you mean.
but its his choice, and whether or not he goes to hell or heaven, or just dies and goes to neither and goes to some other place, he will be fine.
you just have to trust his choice and trust that he will be okay.
So he'll be fine if he goes to hell?
0.o
Skaterbabe15 07-18-2008, 05:44 PM well if he believes there is a hell.
and if its his choice, then i guess so.. ?
bbengyak 07-18-2008, 05:50 PM I made a similar thread to this a while back but with a different mental illness, I saw a documentary on Bellevue Mental Hospital and there was one patient with delusions of grandeur and thought he was God so I made a thread about it asking if he would go to hell because of his disorder. The only answer I remember was =Z28=, he said he thought the patient would go to hell and that sinners somewhat brought the disorders upon themselves by leading a sinful lifestyle. Ridiculous really.
Skaterbabe15 07-18-2008, 05:53 PM it is ridiculous.
because from what i remember when i went to church, and from what i recall from some buds of mine, is that if you sin, you go to hell. but everyone sins, so does that mean everyone goes to hell ?
like whaatt ? its so confusing.
Berishman 07-18-2008, 05:59 PM it is ridiculous.

Not if you repent from them, and ask jesus into your heart,
you become cleansed of those sins
well skaterbabe on and earlier post you said if he chooses, well his disorder is so serious the most choice he makes is between coke and pepsi... I mean if you give him a single $50 bill, he thinks its only a $1 bill, thats why we have to give him all singles, so he can count them out and not mix it up.
And what did he do, a f*ckin sinful lifestyle?!...He was born with it!....What could he have done!....God this just pisses me off, about what the bible stands for....and why I can never accept it.
Berishman 07-18-2008, 06:00 PM I find it amusing how the Christians tend to stay away from these types of threads.
*either that, or they're all offline, rofl*
The only answer I remember was =Z28=, he said he thought the patient would go to hell and that sinners somewhat brought the disorders upon themselves by leading a sinful lifestyle.
That's a disgusting thought right there. Has he ever heard of genetics, or does he fail to comprehend anything that's not written in his favorite fairy tale ?
(sorry if I offend Christians by talking about their Bible like that... I don't really mean to, it's just that I can't respect anything that is used as an excuse for disrespect, and I have a hard time dealing with people who are that ignorant)
hahah.....yeah I know. Seriously Izzy, =Zr8=, all of you, come on, what happens to my brother with down syndrome, that he didn't do anything to deserve, yet be born?...hmmm?
Skaterbabe15 07-18-2008, 06:43 PM well considering im not christian and i don't believe in any of that (jesus, god, the whole nine yards) i really wouldn't know.
Oooh i get what you mean about your brother izi, and i guess he will figure it out in time. and yea he has a down syndrome thats, i guess, "heavy" (i hope you get what i mean. lol) but i don't know.
but all you can do is just hope for the best.
bbengyak 07-18-2008, 07:12 PM That's a disgusting thought right there. Has he ever heard of genetics, or does he fail to comprehend anything that's not written in his favorite fairy tale ?

That's one of the reasons I have no respect for him, he says things like that, refuses to listen to others or even simple logic, tells others repeatedly they are being "used by Satan", and whenever someone gets to close to getting him to question his own religion just a little he refuses to answer them and just says things like "Jesus and I love you" to try and side-step around it. I'll see if I can find the original thread I made that was similar to this one.
=Z28= 07-18-2008, 07:15 PM Now supposedly you follow the bible and be faithful you go to Heaven, and you don't you die and burn in hell....

God is in tune with everyone, on a personal, individual level. Whether or not he is going to be saved is between God and him. I know that isn't much info, but know this, that if someone sins out of ignorance to their transgression of the law they will not be punished as bad as someone who sins and knows the law.
How do you know God's word is limited when it comes to people with mental disorders? I wouldn't put God in a box and say this is his power, and he can't do this, because his power is limitless.
See thats bullsh*t....because my random genetics he was born with an awful mental disorder such as Down Syndrome, he automatically has a one way ticket to Hell.....God the bible is f*cked up.
This is false!! Genetics or disorders either physically or mentally do not mean someone is destined to either hell or heaven. Scripture is clear that when you truly belief in Jesus, and what he has done for us you will be saved. Scripture also says that real faith produces good works. God will judge everyone INDIVIDUALLY, only he knows what is in the hearts and minds. PS. SKATERBABE - there is a HUGE difference between a religious person and a spiritual person! religion is false, relationship with Jesus is the only way.
One more thing...Will he still have to have Down Syndrome, if he supposedly went into Heaven? Or does he become a clear, cleansed soul, without disorders, and get to live eternity without the weight of mental instability...
clear clean, there will be no sickness, decay, filth, it is absolute pure bliss my brother. No death of any kind, and no sin.
there are too few of us to respond to every post and every thread.. so don't expect it of us =p
SEEE, this is my point....listen study up on Down Syndrome, they can't process as fast, get advanced ideas, and have slow motor functions....Basically they still grow in physicality(to some extent), but they will always have a mind of a 3-5 year old. The most he thinks about is what is for supper Thursday...
...you guys are saying well if he believes or chooses he's good...well he can't even COMPREHEND believing or choosing faith or science. And since we never go to church, I doubt he even knows of its existance, and so I'm saying, well just because he can't really believe or know of it, because of flaws in his brain, does that mean he is cursed into damnation?
And he hasn't sinned at all for christ sakes, he was born with it, it doesn't just like happen one day, or you get in a car crash and it happens....the second the genetic coding is made, it is does....because the coding adds an extra Y chromosone, hence making him have this syndrome.
Skateyasha 07-18-2008, 08:49 PM I think I'm going to translate =Z28='s answer into one an intelligent and educated christian would give, and I'm actually serious, I'm not being satirical. Also, I think this may have been what Z28 meant to say.
Now, provided there is a god etc... according to what Christians tell you what will happen, they feel everyone can have a personal connection with Jesus, and that if they truly accept him into their hearts as the lord and saviour then he will go to heaven. Now, of course, Down syndrome being a genetic disorder that stunts physical growth and retards (not meant to use the word in an offensive way, it is a technical term) mental growth severely, to the outside observer it will seem as if there is no way for him to comprehend such a task. Now, I figure what Z28 meant to say is that Jesus' power can allow him to speak through him clearly, and that through the power of the holy ghost, he will understand god's word and respond clearly so god may understand his. And despite the fact that we may view him as incapable of understand, god is always speaking to him, and he can always return the favour to god somewhere in the back of his mind, even if he can't outwardly display it. And it is through this that your brother may ascend to heaven even if he never really understood anything anyone said about it, and that he may be cleared of his disorder (wouldn't really call it an illness, illness is more of a term used for people who have become sick but born healthy, not for someone who, from the start, and forever will live with the condition) and live in heaven with sound mind and body.
*ahem*
Now if I can direct your attention over here....
Jesus Isn't Real. (http://www.skaterscafe.com/showthread.php?t=69984)
And now I will give you my perspective, being someone who, despite being born into Judaism, has never believed in a god, and has also studied up on the bible for the soul purpose of finding loopholes to help prove there is no god, when I actually found something that isn't a loophole, it's really more of actual evidence there is no god. It's not refuting any of his miracles or anything like that, it's proving he never really even existed.
Also, your brother was born with a genetic disorder, that is how "god" made him. If "god" wanted him to live in heaven with sound mind and body, he would not have given him a genetic disorder in the first place. It's random chance that he's missing part of his 23rd(...? been a while) chromosome pair, but that's life, life dealt him a lot of lemons and someone else needs to make the lemonade for him. Still, I like the direction technology is progressing, with in-vitro fertilization etc... Now, don't take this the wrong way, but they inspect the cells of the early zygote (what will turn into the fetus/baby) for genetic disorders and things like that, before they fertilize the client.
AND JUST AN OBSERVATION I'D LIKE TO MAKE
When christians are asked questions such as these, in a general sense, they'll usually give a far less detailed answer, most likely condemning him to hell because he can't accept Jesus into his heart or something like that. But when given an actual situation where this event is occuring, their answers become a lot more understanding and forgiving etc... as they try to woo you towards becoming a christian yourself.
Just a good thing to note.
=Z28= 07-18-2008, 08:54 PM if you want my honest opinion then, i believe that children, babies, go to heaven when they die. i'm talking about children who never got the chance to decide if they will live for Christ or not. ignorance is bliss, right? the more you know, the more responsibility you have to uphold the law imo.
i see a young child, and i see a trusting, good natured, playful, all around uncorrupted human. how can a loving God condemn someone like this who was unable to understand him and his words? I don't think he would. Honestly.
it's the people who hear about the gospel, and reject it in favor of doing their own thing that i would be very worried about.
edit - skate do not put words in my mouth, thanks. i say what i mean to say.
ignorance is bliss, right?
It isn't bliss for me...I choose not to be an ignoramus, I like finding the truth in things as opposed to accepting words from old men with robes.
it's the people who hear about the gospel, and reject it in favor of doing their own thing that i would be very worried about.
Do you honestly think people reject your God because of the rules? lmfao

Holy crap you are ignorant. First of all, stop changing your religion. The bible says we are all born into sin, so a baby (who obviously has already been born) is already a sinner. Second, you act like your religion has some overwhelming evidence that all the other religions lack. You look at everything from such a one-sided point of view. Take someone who isn't Christian, and present them with two religions to choose from, Christianity and another religion (let's say Hinduism). What makes you believe that the correct thing to do would be to pick Christianity?

Well your words weren't really clear... almost sounded like you were condemning the person with down syndrome.

QTip, it's obviously because Jesus is lord and saviour. Let me pull up an appropriate quote that proves it:
At the name of
JESUS
every
knee must bow,
in Heaven
and
on the earth
and
under the earth,
and
every tongue confess that
JESUS CHRIST
is
LORD...
True story.
/cough =Z28= parody
Haha Skateyasha, ever time you quote me you capitalize the T in my name.
Skateyasha 07-19-2008, 11:52 AM I do things how they should be
=P
well think about this, what about kids in some far away country that never hear about the bible or god or anything? they dont have a chance to learn about god, its not just that they wouldnt if they could. I think god knows what you would do if you had the chance to learn about him.

I looked at that post. And let me tell ya, if I could punch him in the face through the computer, I would. My ****ing 5 year old little brother is always doped out from medication for the several disorders he's been diagnosed with, I read that and ****ing went through the roof. I thought Z28 was ignorant before, but that was the icing on the cake right there. What a knob.

Well, I'm glad that other people saw it back then and still remember it and were just as mad about it, I can't find it anymore so I guess it got deleted. :(

The same can be shot straight back at you.
I'm sorry, I only really got an answer form skateyasha that I'd consider 'good', and and hes on the other side....so well Christians, you have failed me again....one hard akward question, and all you say is either old comments like well he sinned his life and deserved it, or was born or picked as a sinner(Doomed from the beginning), or simply that he is talking to god, wether we know it or not....which by the way I asked him what the bible, church, jesus, god, christianity, and some other christian-esque things are, and he didn't know, yet I asked him also(out of curiosity) what a jew or a synagogue was, and oddly enough he knew....I mean in the most simplest of form, and the best of his knowledge, he told me a synagogue is where the jews go, and the jews are a religion(which is pretty damn close enough to they are the followers of a religion(judaism)........
.....so hmmm maybe take that as a mental note christians, maybe the right scripture is judaism, and god has been speaking to him about that, so he tried to tell me.
For all you know I'm right, hence all you christians did it wrong...
feedmegrease 07-19-2008, 11:12 PM We'll all be in one or the other. Don't lie to yourself man. All it'll do is hurt you in the end.
What makes you think you're so right? Oh no!!! No!! Don't tell me, let me guess!
Is it teh werd 0f GaWd?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!21212!?!?!?!

At first I didn't like him, now I feel sorry for him...with his mental disorder and all.
Z28 if you'd like to be recommended to any doctors please PM me, I can find some in your area.
Skateyasha 07-20-2008, 12:28 AM I'm sorry, I only really got an answer form skateyasha that I'd consider 'good', and and hes on the other side....
I do that.
Also, if you wanted, ask him what hindus are, or muslims (though he might say terrorists, the US general public has put a bad stereotype out :\) or bhuddists, he might be able to give just as good an answer to those, in which case, I think it clears the whole "Judaism has the best chance at being right" thing, and I was raised in a jewish family, had a bar mitzvah at 13, went to Jewish school until grade 3, and let me tell ya, Judaism is definitely not the right religion, seeing as everything they believe is at least 2000 years old, and more improbable than anything in the christian's new testament, which is why many disregard the old testament. After all, the Jewish people genuinely believe the whole Adam and Eve story (at least hasidic jews do, the hardcore ones). And every one of em will believe in something like Noah's ark, or... Jonah and the whale, you know, the improbable stuff.
zeroBLACKzero 07-20-2008, 12:37 AM well really he will not go to hell b/c in the bible it says that kids do not go to hell b/c they do not kno right from wrong so there for your bro will go to heaven b/c dose not kno right from wrong
He only knows of jews I think cause my aunt who is talked about it once at the table, and he must have remembered, he doesn't even know what 9/11 is, so yeah he doesn't know/who muslims are....and in that case definitely not any eastern asian religions/ways of life...
I was just giving an example that because my brother knows of jews as the only religion, maybe it is the jewish faith that is talking to him in his mind and thats how he knows, and not the christian faith(such as what Z28 explained and told me what was happening).....
I'm not really set on any religion, I'm Agnostic, though the Buddism way of life seems the greatest, and most intune with actual living....their aren't rules but rather ways to live your life and what you should do to be one with the earth and what not...
Basically, all I'm saying is they say my brother is faithful, because god visits him, so in sense he does know and does choice, well this could be the case for Judaism, because thats the only religion he can recollect......I'm just saying and putting that out there for all hardcore believers.....
well really he will not go to hell b/c in the bible it says that kids do not go to hell b/c they do not kno right from wrong so there for your bro will go to heaven b/c dose not kno right from wrong
Yeah I don't think it says that in the Bible.
Skateyasha 07-20-2008, 10:21 AM well really he will not go to hell b/c in the bible it says that kids do not go to hell b/c they do not kno right from wrong so there for your bro will go to heaven b/c dose not kno right from wrong

Not even true.
Know your own faith's teachings before you go preaching.
The bible says that EVERYONE is born into sin; without Jesus, you can't ascend to Heaven.
What makes you think you're so right? Oh no!!! No!! Don't tell me, let me guess!

Honestly, you're 100% right. Though I would have definitely used a bit better grammer skills, like such.
"Is it the Word of God?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!"
I know that God's Word is true, and yes, I do mean know, NOT assume.
I know that God's Word is true, and yes, I do mean know, NOT assume.
And I 100% know that you have a neurological disorder.
Izzy, what you're doing right now is sinful, you need to see a doctor because the last thing I want is some crazies flying planes into buildings because of hearing voices in their heads.
It could be my family in there, or yours, why not do us all a favor and just get checked?
Berishman 07-20-2008, 08:00 PM I honestly believe he may have some sort of mental ailment.
Izzy, we're asking you, just go get checked out.
ZeroSkaterFTW 07-20-2008, 08:27 PM I may be a little late and I didn't bother to read the other posts, but who really knows what will happen to him? Zero, do you agree with your God that people like I, noj, skateyasha, etc should burn in hell for eternity?
jakedaskater 07-21-2008, 11:27 PM Zero, do you agree with your God that people like I, noj, skateyasha, etc should burn in hell for eternity?
lol back when i was jewish i asked my girfriend that, but hse just avoided an answer
^ I think it's an interesting question.
I mean, each day billions of religious people benefit from secularists (and Theists as well). Take for example Warren Buffet, he donated $40,000,000,000 (that's billion) to charity and that will most definitely help people in need of all faiths.
But yet, there are others who just 'pray' and do nothing but still think they're helping. Question is, if non-believers are fools (as stated in the Bible) then why do the people who arent fools (ie: Christians) use medicine, products, etc produced by these people?

Just because you have knowledge doesn't make you wise. I remember somewhere in the Bible (I THINK one of the major prophets) it says that in the last days "men shall increase in knowledge, and become fools." If you were wise, you wouldn't be completely avoiding the LORD, through the many of times he's tried to convince you to come to him so you could be filled with his joy and love, but everytime you've passed it off as nothing more than coincidence or your subconscious mind. And to answer your question, we all deserve to burn for eternity razz. I do, and everyone else on this planet. We've all sinned against the law of God, and for that, we deserve anything we're put through. But Jesus took our punishment so that we could be forgiven and not have to take our punishment. Nonetheless, whether or not you accept his gift is up to you. So essentially, wherever you spend eternity is up to you razz.
^^
quick question bro, so if you dont worship god, but are a saint(gives most of his paycheeck to poor, donates, lives noble) would he/she still go to hell, in the bibles terms?

We've ALL sinned. Only those who accept Jesus sacrifice will go to heaven, because we are saved by faith, not by works. If a guy goes out and is a serial killer, but the night before his execution is visited by a pastor, and TRULY REPENTS (from his heart, not just because he's about to die) and accepts Jesus, and a guy who refuses Jesus' sacrifice for his entire life who never does anything that is extremely bad by society's standards, the guy who was a mass murderer who accepted Jesus will have eternal life, while the other shall perish into everlasting fire prepared for Satan and his angels.

and that, my friend, is why many people dont believe in god.
The more Izzy posts the more people stray away from religion. Hey Izzy, keep preaching brother.
Nonetheless, whether or not you accept his gift is up to you. So essentially, wherever you spend eternity is up to you razz.
Listen Izzy, either you still don't get it or you're a blithering idiot.
We are not offered this choice by God, by rather we're offered by men. Stop being so dogmatic and assuming this choice is black & white. Before you accept a gift, you want to know that it's legitimate.
If I get a gift via email that I had just won $1,000,000 the first thing I look for is evidence...just because a man from Nigeria claims to have been an inherited his father's billion-dollar income and chooses to share, that doesn't mean we believe him.
Yet you'd call that a "stupid decision" to decline.
IFoughtTheLaw 07-23-2008, 04:24 PM As far as your brother goes Izi, I would say that I'm sure he would be treated fairly by whatever god he "knows", if in fact he is being spoken to. It wouldn't be fair that your brother would be condemned to hell because of his lack of accepting Jesus or God, just because he was born that way out of genetics. If we in fact are born into sin, but are given the opportunity to repent by accepting jesus, then your brothers mental incapability to accept him shouldn't instantly condemn him. It would be like locking someone up in a barrel that was going to fall over niagra falls, and telling him that it will be safe if he unlocks himself and jumps onto a dock, but if nobody gives him the key in the first place, what is he to do? I think that God or whatever higher power may be out there would judge him fairly seeing as he really had no choice by his handicaps. Same thing with children who die before they can accept religion. It is not their fault they died, and they sure didn't know what sin was, so why should they be punished unfairly if this God is supposedly a just and good God.
I hope I made sense, I'm kinda new to this religious debating stuff, lol. I just believe in what should be right I guess.
shred sled 08-02-2008, 03:05 PM I was wondering the same thing. Would a one or two year old also go to hell since their not old enough to understand the bible?
I amThe1 inUr80 08-10-2008, 10:44 PM izi, you need to know just how mercyfull jesus really is, by his death ALL SINS are forgiven, its rejection of jesus that gets people into hell, im guessing your brother is not going to reject jesus if he cant understand that much, its safe to say he will not go to hell.

How about a person suffering from delusions of grandeur?
There is a case where a person who suffers from delusions of grandeur thinks he is God/Christ, which he is obviously not, so if Christianity is right he is technically rejecting Jesus. So is he going to hell?

All except doubting the holy spirit! That one's a doozie and can never be forgiven!
dumbdog7723 08-11-2008, 10:22 PM We talked about this in church. My Sunday school teacher(who is a scholar) said that since God is a just God, he cannot punish you for doing something that impossible to achieve. It would like me saying you have to carry a two ton truck on your back to your grandma's house or I will stab you to death.
Anyways, sorry if this was already answered.
Phantom2_chick 08-11-2008, 10:24 PM To go to hell don't you have to believe in heaven?
If you don't believe in god then there is no way you can go to hell.

exactly.
I don't believe in death. There is no way i can die now, right?
I don't believe in jail systems, in fact I don't believe stealing is against your government laws! Therefore - the authority will not punish me because I do not believe in their laws!
dude, we just figured it out.

People think we don't believe in God because of the lack-of evidence, WROOOOOOOONG! All we're doing is choosing hell over heaven because we like being burned.
