This is probably the simplest tutorial you could do. The reason I'm posting is because when I use to do this for flyers I would end up making some arbitrary outline selections and croping the text properly. This is about 1000x times easier and I can just move the image to best suit the text.
So, say I take this image:
http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/9035/timessquare1024x768ii5.jpg
And place it inside some text...All you simply do is create your text layer, type whichever name you want (I'm using 'Times Square')
Now, either paste the image overlapping the text layer or drag it from another open PS window. Right click on the image layer, select 'Create Clipping Mask' and that's it...just move the text as you see fit
