Every once in a while, I like to find information about a skater who's making a name for themselves in the skateboarding world. Someone who you might not know yet, but hey, if they make it big, you can say ''I heard it here first'', haha.
From the MNSUN.com
Matt Richard is headed for Peoria, Ariz. in October. He competed against top skateboarders throughout the Midwest to win his division at the Volcom's Wild In The Park regional skateboard competition at 3rd Lair in Golden Valley.
The top seven qualifiers from each of the three divisions that compete regionally throughout the U.S. and Canada will vie for the national title in Arizona.
Matt won the regional competition by landing a 360 Kickflip Late Backside 180 on the pyramid, a Back Overcrook on the circle downrail, and a Full Cab Backlip on the flat downrail. The average person may not know what these tricks involve, but skateboarders consider them "crazy."
Matt started skating at age 10. Since then he has won several local competitions in Minnesota and California. He has performed skateboard demonstrations at the Minnesota State Fair for the past three years, and will skate there again this year. This summer he is also teaching at skateboard camps in Metro Area skate parks for 3rd Lair.
