Comes back September 25th on Thursday night. I love this show so much, I have all the seasons and have seen them all a bunch of times, its a little crazy.

I hope Toby decides not to go to Costa Rica for some reason (like Pam) and I want Andy to find out about Dwight and Angela and freak out.

Discuss my obsessivness.

haha, I can't find anywhere around here to buy the UK version. I don't think anyone could beat Steve Carrol's performance as the manager though

ha i know what he was TRYING to say, but i happened to agree with what he actually did say.

I'll admit, the first season wasn't golden, but once it stopped trying to mirror the UK version and grew onto itself, the US version is exceptional.

I just realised how epically I failed right there hahaha

Uk office > US office. There we go...

The US version of the office just fails, it's trys too hard to be funny which ruins it. It's really cheesy, maybe it's just your kind of humor that's different to ours, but ours trys to be more realistic, yet funny.

UK version > US version

Both not bad, but the UK one is simply more funny imo.

You can't judge the quality of the program on length of the series. The UK office was deliberately stopped after 2 series, all the viewers wanted more but they didn't want to risk potentially tarnishing what was an amazing program. Quality not quantity and all that jazz.

Another great TV series, Fawlty Towers, only 12 episodes ever made, doesn't change the fact its amazing.

well should i look at awards then? Because, excluding awards that exclusive to each version like "best british show" or "best american comedy", the US version has won more.

and, as i said before, the first episodes of the american office were following closely to the UK version. Those were garbage. Once the US grew into it's own entity it improved vastly. The length of running does matter, as the UK is done for whatever reason, and the US keeps getting better and better.

^ You can't argue that yours has won more awards, we do live in different countries you know. lol

Awards are a tricky one to go by as it's such an american dominated arena anyway, but the fact that the English Office won a Golden Globe for Best Comedy say alot for it being a program from across the pond.

I think part of the reason the original US office wasn't great was because like you said it's trying to copy a style of comedy which isn't really suited for america. I think it's safe to say that both countries have a style of comedy that they do well, and The Office in the UK is very very british, and without knowledge of the english workplace your just not going to fully get what's happening. I imagine it was once the american producers started to inject more american style humour into it that it grew into what it should have started as.

But I still don't think the running length matters at all as a marker of quality. The English program had reached a peak, and they knew that, so why run any longer and bring the show down. the final Christmas special was one of the best things I've ever seen on tv.

well thats my point. The UK reached a peak at two seasons, the US is going into it's fifth and so far hasn't peaked. it's possible the fifth will suck, and the fourth would have been the peak, but it's been able to continue past two seasons and still be good. Longevity and consistency is what I'm talking about here.

its arguable awards are great to go by, because excluding regional awards, it's on a fair basis. the major awards are international, can be won by any show. as you said, the UK office has won one, so it's not impossible.

I think the Golden Globe was extra special as it was the first UK comedy to have even been nominated for 25 years, let alone win, which is natural in an American based award.

Then again I'm not actually sure what I'm debating anymore! They're both awesome, I'm just a sucker for a bit of a discussion and represent the homeland every now and then

haha no it was just a joke. i've seen every episode of the US version and a handful of the UK ones. I definitely think they should have a joint episode.
