Hot off the Cafe presses! Well, in OTHER news, seems like 3 Skaters took the law into their OWN hands and prevented a purse snatcher from getting away! Who says that skateboarders are only ''against'' the law ;)?!
From the herald-dispatch.com
An alleged robber trying to make his getaway was thwarted by a few young skateboarders Monday night.
Demarcus Caudill, 19, Wilton Hargis, 15, and Ricky Clark, 15, chased the alleged purse snatcher down 10th Street, where the suspect attempted to escape in a blue van.
Hargis and Clark said they smashed the window of the van with their skateboards as the suspect attempted to drive away.
Caudill refused to let the man leave and climbed into his window as the suspect tried to drive away.
“I put him in a choke hold and was just hoping that he would pass out,” Caudill said.
The suspect drove into a car, a street sign, a wall and a Dumpster before ending up just inside of 41⁄2 Alley beside of 10th Street.
“My adrenaline was running, but I was not going to let him get away with stealing my friend’s purse,” Caudill said.
The Huntington Police Department detained at least one individual in connection with the incident. That person’s name was not released Monday night. The investigation into the incident is continuing.
Ampx612 08-12-2008, 08:02 AM haha, this reminds me of a quote someone once said, i forgot who though, but they said something like, if you leave skaters to it, they will lower crime rates, solve world hunger, and find a cure for cancer

Nah, I wish. We'd just say "Hell with the world let's go skate."
And it would be sweet.
swordman540 08-12-2008, 08:32 AM I bet they were thinking

pooldogfromoz 08-12-2008, 09:08 AM Hehe. That should be a motto for all skaters. "What would Mullen do?"
spyboy1o1(DL) 08-12-2008, 10:29 AM haha, awsome for them, for all we know the cops probably took em in for skating afterwords...
what would mullen do, i vote for that...
Hellview 08-12-2008, 11:30 AM Hehe. That should be a motto for all skaters. "What would Mullen do?"
yeah but then every time you needed to make a decision you'd just do backside 360 kickflip underflips.

MattxLustt 08-12-2008, 11:56 AM It WAS their friend, so that won't give us a HUGE boost in rep, but it still helps.
MDeezy 08-12-2008, 11:13 PM That's exactly what we need. Another reason to stop the hate on us.
Jordan G 08-12-2008, 11:41 PM what would mullen do?
more like what would dylan jones do?
:)
Skihdoosh 08-12-2008, 11:44 PM This is pretty rad news. maybe more stuff like this will start popping up and skaters won't be so negatively viewed in the public eye. but who am i kidding people are stupid.
ForumSkater 08-14-2008, 12:26 AM Lmao "just hoping he would pass out"

I<3HatersPlenty 08-21-2008, 05:57 PM Sweeeeeeett skaters have bad rep on my block (jenny from da block) so me nd my crew pretend to be unicorns whenever some one passes because they all give us dirty looks, but on a more serious note that is pretty gnar for skaters to save the day
Aries 08-21-2008, 11:46 PM look its a bird, no its a plane, no they're kids tryin suffocate a man. anyways nice, it would help if it was some old lady, or movie star.

I agree 100%
I do that all the time. Girlfriend breaks up with you doing something you can't (EX. 7 flat 4) and die, but yet it's still fun and it makes you forget. skateboarding is my pain relief. If that makes sence.
Lukeaxx 08-24-2008, 03:49 AM Wow.. sounds like some action movie. Bravo to them.
mf-johnson 08-25-2008, 02:51 PM if more of this stuff happens maybe the 5-0 will let skate some more of the wicked spots in hope that we will make a citizens arrest

Takes some guts to jump into his van and choke him when he's driving.
BigDogSkater 10-11-2008, 03:21 PM i heard about that from my cousin who lives in virginia. He told me on the phone like 1 1/2 months ago.
