TheWHOAmnizer 09-16-2008, 12:39 AM does va have a good skate scene?
hokus pokus 09-17-2008, 07:32 PM a scene pretty much like everywhere else....
some places are better than others, depends where you are...
but we've had and having a fair share of sick pros and ams coming from here.
come on over, ill be glad to show you around
GoSkate 09-17-2008, 07:35 PM Virginia beach, Downtown richmond, Shokoe bottom all have a great scene, not sure about here its okay i guess we only got about 5 or 6 people that are really good
hokus pokus 09-17-2008, 07:47 PM dont forget about norfolk, chesapeake, fairfax, alexandria, woodbridge, newport news and a hell of of alot of other cities and towns...
TheWHOAmnizer 09-17-2008, 09:28 PM if i did go down there i would be living at the airforce base in hampton...whats the word about there lol..i want to make really sure if i do go there i will be able to shred. oh and hows the weather there? lots of rain or what?
hokus pokus 09-18-2008, 07:26 AM i live 1 city over from hampton.
if you move here the street spots come and go. but there is def stuff to skate...
hampton is smack in the middle of 6 (about to be 9) parks in a 20 mile radius, some are better than others. summers can be crazy hot and humid, it doesnt rain often, but when it does, it comes down.
right now we have 1 indoor park in hampton, but ag (the park with the plans above) is about to open and is a 10 min drive from langley. and the other park in portsmouth is 10 min the other direction (when that opens)
also, if you are looking for skate shops, 2 in newport news, 1 hampton, 2 in norfolk (but sole brother is where its at), 1 in portsmouth, and a ton in virginia beach.
but if you have the chance to live in cali or something, i would do that...most likely cause i live here haha
TheWHOAmnizer 09-18-2008, 12:28 PM alright thanks for the info man.
hokus pokus 10-06-2008, 08:39 AM more new info, the park i showed the layout for will be opening in mid nov!
they are in works for a new concrete skatepark in norfolk, near ocean view and from what i was told, its going to be bigger than mt. trashmore...
newport news city park plans are going down hill, saying they wont have funding till 2010 -2011.
gloucester is getting ready to set up shop with a new park. they are raising money and having an all day event of bands playing, skating, and video premieres (including mine)
if you are in the area, or need directions, hit me up - this is happening nov 1st
