Looks like Danny Way is moving past the shoes and is getting his own 100% signature custom jean and a corduroy pant. Look for this come in the Spring.
Danny talks about it at the dcshoes (http://skate.dcshoes.com/features/danny-way-talks-about-his-signature-denim-and-cord/) website or you can read it here as well.
Pants come complete with Shoelace Belt!
Introducing the Spring 2009 Signature Apparel Collection from Danny Way. Working closely with DC designers to make the products 100% his own, Danny has created a custom jean and a corduroy pant.
Though signature shoes have served as the cornerstone of the DC strategy for over 15 years, this SP09 Signature Danny Denim Collection is the first time DC has offered apparel stamped with a team rider name. Besides being the greatest skateboarder ever, Danny is a man with a defined and unique style, so who better than him to kick off DC signature apparel.
After customizing the look of his jean and cord with special interior details, a custom wash, and reinforced stitching to protect against butt slide and cuff wear, Danny was also given the opportunity to create a completely new signature DC fit.
The Danny Way Signature Apparel Collection is available at skate shops and in select fine retailers worldwide now.
Here, D-WAY covers a few of his favorite things about the project:
I’ve always just gotten boxes of jeans from sponsors and hoped for the best. I finally got to the point where I’m able to create my own fit and find a lightweight material that is the most comfortable to skate in.
I wear jeans quite a bit. Out of 365 days, I wear them about 100 days a year.
I like vintage wash—something that is a little worn out when you get it. I don’t like getting stiff jeans; jeans that can just stand up by themselves… like concrete or something.
Not too crazy, and none of the fashion stylish denim that exists. I like worn out, broke in, and lightweight. And Darker ones, because when you go skate they hide the dirt better.
Even through the baggy pant phase, I’ve been into the slimmer fits. I never got into the goofy rave pants like all the street guys did at one point. Back in to day I’d buy 501’s; I was always a big fan of 501’s. I’d have to get those because the skate companies were making pants that you could fit four people in.
I like stuff that’s lightweight, I like stuff that doesn’t hold water, I like stuff that stretches, and I like slim but baggy enough to bend the knees. I don’t like when jeans are tight in the crotch… I like a little bit baggy there.
I like artwork to represent a little bit about who I am and what I represent. On the pockets I wrote a bunch of script… motivational sayings about beliefs that I have. The artwork should represent me and nobody else.
I put reinforced stitching here and there to keep the seams from falling apart. There’s triple stitching on the yoke for strength on butt slides after you slam on your back.
I like corduroys because they’re light, thin and don’t soak up a lot of sweat and get heavy when you skate.
It’s cool that I get an opportunity to do this. It’s for people that have a similar mindset to me, and for those who want their jeans to hang and feel right.
I put a lacing system where you can choose between the belt and the shoelace. Sometimes I don’t like the belt because when I slam the belt can dig into my waist and actually cut me. The option for the string is a low budget way to get around it. It’s function over fashion; it’s a good option.
