Just practice 50-50s till you can get em'. There isn't really any other easier thing to do on a box, in my opinion.
You just want to come up on the side of it, and when you ollie, use your back foot to push the back truck onto the box.
Maybe just practice ollieing forward to get used to it.

Try to ollie straight into the 50-50 instead of sideways onto it. I found it much much easier when I first learned.

Also if you didnt screw them together you could take out them bottom two pallats to make it easier to get on to.

Before trying to 50-50, practice ollieing onto the box itself.

When I first started to learn 50-50 I couldn't ollie on to them, which made me mad. Untill my friend suggested try pop shuviting on to them. I did and I landed my first 50-50. You could try that if your good at pop shuvits.

can you ollie onto the box and ride across it? just think of the 50 50 as an ollie onto the box, except your on the edge instead of the middle. and you basically dont even have to worry about balancing a 50 50 of a box, its pretty much just standing on it, especially a box thats not too high.

ok ive gotten alot better(yes ive landed one now)but i either go into a boardslide like my front truck goes over the coping or a do like a willy grind and dont get the back truck on

Lol If your talking about the midget flip, that kid is just really short.
He started break dancing, and he asked us to flip him. So we did and he landed. I just took the pictures :P

If your talking about barney, I just thought it was funny in a weird way.

Dude come on... if your going to build a grindbox you might as well build one at least 10 inches off the ground. Yours is like 3 inches tall. Theres no way you'll be able to boardslide it.

SkateMore

He just learned how to 50-50. I doubt hes popping 10 inch ollies consistant and smooth.

no i have more palletes to make it higher but that makes it like 10 inches tall but its way to big for me to 50-50 it like that
im just learning
when i try boardslides i make it higher

It looks pretty good, but the holes would bother me. =/
I got a solid angle iron.
Anyhow, 50-50s are definitely the first. Then you could try either nosegrinds of 50-50s, or nose slides. (Be prepared for nose slides, you'll probably end up in a FS Boardslide and fall quite a good number of times.)

Dannzzeeyy
06-23-2009, 02:12 AM
^ive tried noseslides and i just want to go onto nosegrind in the grind department i can nosestall thats pretty easy

and im just gonna keep slowly coming from an angle untl im nosesliding bois
and the holes you dont notice there too small

not as stupid as your gif's

Dannzzeeyy
07-02-2009, 06:24 PM
^whats wrong with my gifs trebor???
i've been skating for like 3 months and i post my best attempt at a trick andyou just say its stupid

it would be unethical to make the box 5x longer because a) i wouldnt be able to grind it b)where would i keep it and c)it would be a hassle to move around

MikeM
07-02-2009, 06:47 PM
Yeah, I have to agree with what is being said about the gif.
The box in the gif is as high as the skateboard itself. A decent box is about 8-10 inches high.
So yeah, it should be higher.
If you've been skating for only a short while, you really shouldn't post gifs or vids of what you can do, since what people are learning is not really that amazing to us. What I enjoy watching in gifs and vids are something I can't do, or something that looks amazing, or a trick to it's full potential, not in its learning stage. Just my 2 cents.
Don't take this the wrong way though =P

Dannzzeeyy
07-02-2009, 06:50 PM
i wont, thanks for criticism
i agree it needs to be taller and i have palettes to put beneath but im just trying to focus on getting the technique right and then moving higher higher

For the boardslide, DO NOT learn those on ledges. find a rail, whether you make one or use one at your local skatepark.

just learn a frontside 180 and do one as you head toward the rail. you'll land in a boardslide.
OR just do a 90 degree kickturn if the rail is low enough XD
and make sure you never lean back or forward, stay over your board at all times.

And for the landing, start turning as you reach the end of the rail

Dannzzeeyy
07-02-2009, 06:54 PM
thanks man ill head to the skatepark and try learn them
when you try them on a box your wheels on the front trucks slide and make the back come out

they look really bad on box but i can still do them

No prob,
But dont learn them on a box until you have mastered them of a rail.
the boardslide should become your generic grind.
When I learn higher rails of when I do handrails my first grind is always a boardslide

07-02-2009, 07:07 PM
ive tried noseslides on my box aswell theres easier on box than boardslide

why dont you learn the technique on a real sized box? it will be easier than starting on a super tiny box like that,

because then you dont get hassled for skating broom handle sized "boxes"

do you really need two giant gif's of the same thing?
