LONDON (Reuters) – God did not create the universe and the "Big Bang" was an inevitable consequence of the laws of physics, the eminent British theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking argues in a new book.
In "The Grand Design," co-authored with U.S. physicist Leonard Mlodinow, Hawking says a new series of theories made a creator of the universe redundant, according to the Times newspaper which published extracts on Thursday.
"Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist," Hawking writes.
"It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the universe going."
Hawking, 68, who won global recognition with his 1988 book "A Brief History of Time," an account of the origins of the universe, is renowned for his work on black holes, cosmology and quantum gravity.
Since 1974, the scientist has worked on marrying the two cornerstones of modern physics -- Albert Einstein's General Theory of Relativity, which concerns gravity and large-scale phenomena, and quantum theory, which covers subatomic particles.
His latest comments suggest he has broken away from previous views he has expressed on religion. Previously, he wrote that the laws of physics meant it was simply not necessary to believe that God had intervened in the Big Bang.
He wrote in A Brief History ... "If we discover a complete theory, it would be the ultimate triumph of human reason -- for then we should know the mind of God."
In his latest book, he said the 1992 discovery of a planet orbiting another star other than the Sun helped deconstruct the view of the father of physics Isaac Newton that the universe could not have arisen out of chaos but was created by God.
"That makes the coincidences of our planetary conditions -- the single Sun, the lucky combination of Earth-Sun distance and solar mass, far less remarkable, and far less compelling evidence that the Earth was carefully designed just to please us human beings," he writes.

"The Grand Design" is due to go on sale next week.

Its a documentary about aliens visting in the past and how they could have visited different civilisations and how they all talk about gods coming from the stars in 'birds' 'dragons' and other things.

then it talks about how we could have gotten here and how our dna has diffrences that we only have so we could have came from a alien race etc.
Another thing was a theory were a planet with intelligent life was about to die or be destroyed so they found a suitable place to leave there dna and only 5% is used and another 95% is 'junk genes' that could have a message programmed into it that can be decoded.

it sounds like conspiracies, but its pretty interesting and something i wouldn't normally watch but i found it in sky anytime.
Plus i suck at explaining.

"Some liberal politicians have extrapolated the theory of relativity to metaphorically justify their own political agendas. For example, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama helped publish an article by liberal law professor Laurence Tribe to apply the relativistic concept of "curvature of space" to promote a broad legal right to abortion. As of June 2008, over 170 law review articles have cited this liberal application of the theory of relativity to legal arguments. Applications of the theory of relativity to change morality have also been common. Moreover, there is an unmistakable effort to censor or ostracize criticism of relativity."

A device capable of time travel? Anti gravity?

For those who do not know. The Nazi's were building a machine, Die Glocke, towards the end of the war. It worked by spinning two cylinders in opposite directions to each other, which were filled with a red substance, which was named xerum 225 or 255 I forget, which glowed violet during activation of the machine. Durin test of this machine there was such ultra high levels of radiation that any thing close enough to the machine was turned into black goo, because a crystalline substance was released into the cells/atoms of the object, which killed it/destroyed it from the inside out. Nobody knows what the machine did exactly, some say that they were accelerating neutrons to try and create anti-gravity. Others say that they were attempting a torsion field (Which bends all four dimensions, including space and time, and allow the Nazi's to see the past. There was also a structure near the hidden mine where all this was taking place, which was named the flytrap, which could have been used as a testing round for the device, however it could have also been just a water tank...

After the war nobody knows what happened, some say the device was taken to the US, others say it was taken to a German base, somewhere near on in poland. There was only one scientist that survived all test(The test caused balance to be off, memory to be lost, nerve spasms, sleep problems and permanent metal taste in mouth, as well as super levels of radiation, which convicts of a near by concentration camp had to try and clear out ]= ) and the war, who explains what the machine did, as in the purple stuff gets spun quick, but not what the machine could be used for.

Google it, wiki it, youtube it, ask your physics teacher about it. What do you think it was meant for? Do you think they got it working, and were able to see into the past or able to float objects that weren't reduced to goo?
