Default Official Tapes Vs Digital Thread

This thread's purpose is to compare the differences between using a camera that uses tapes, versus a camera that is digital. I'm planning on getting a new Camera soon, and I wanna know whether i should get one that takes tapes or a digital camcorder. GO!!!

If you're getting an HD camera, then tapes are just pointless. They're so damn expensive and they look the same as SD cards

    I shoot HD mini dv.
I like having hard copies of all my footage as well as extra copies on an external harddrive.
I've lost clips far to many times.

    Not all of them.

Have a crazy long shoot in a remote location, and don't want to lug along a laptop to transfer your cards? Tapes are great for that.

For the most part SD Cards, Drives, P2, whatever are great. That's what I would go with.

Depends what kind you use. I used panasonic dvc's in my dvx. i think i paid like 20 bucks for 12. Buy online, don't bother going to stores. Only store i found that sold the ones i used was radio shack and they wanted 30 $ for 3 tapes.
