Default Do you think vert skating will ever come back?

In the early 90s vert skating quickly died because of the revolution of street skating, But I wonder if another vert generation will come..

vert skating is limited, street skating is limitless. No, vert skating won't come back.

That was sorta my thoughts as well. I guess vert was just the roots of skating.

Everything changes over time. People will eventually burn out on hopping over things just like people burned out on pumping pools and halfpipes. If they don't go back to riding features like pipes, pools, and bowls it will be something else few predicted.

Skiing evolved from racing to freestyle to big mountain and back country. I can see racing gaining popularity again. Downhill, slalom racing, and mountain boarding could certainly be wildly popular sometime in the not too distant future.

Will "vert" as defined as halfpipe skating on wooden ramps come back? no but Park Skating and bowl riding will probably replace it as the dominate other form of trick skating

Vert can't come back because it is inaccessible to most people. How many of you have vert ramps close by?

Speaks the truth, vert won't ever be as popular as street because of its accessibilty
Kickflips and 360 flips are ****

We were all off our faces on mushrooms when we recorded Plug In Baby... There was this big field next to the recording studio filled with them. So we ate them all. With all the skateparks popping up everywhere you would think there would be more big ramps and spine ramps. It could be easily accessible. If they can build a bunch of bowls and concrete street courses, they could build a big ramp too.

We used to have a full sized halfpipe at my old park, but they tore it down.

Big ramps and spine ramps are super fun. Spine ramps, especially. I think its probably easier to maintain a concrete park than to maintain a decent 8-10ft big ramp with roll ins and extensions and all that good stuff. I remember the park I skated as a teenager had to replace some panels and fix the coping every few months on the full size ramp.

Big concrete park bowl riding is the new vert. There's all sorts of kids riding big bowls at all these crazy parks everywhere. Those same kids will be able to rip a big vert ramp if given the opportunity.

Vert has always been incredibly boring to me. it's so unrelatable and 95% of kids will never even see a vert ramp.

if it comes back or dies entirely, i'll be one of the people who probably won't even notice

Pretty sure that's true for pretty much anything you do on a skateboard.

I never considered that when people here say "vert" they were referring to halfpipes only and not bowls and pools. I've always called any feature with a transition that goes to 90 degrees as "vert". Who here thinks Pedro Barros isn't skating "vert"?
