    Default nose.. or tail...?

    Hey guys

Was skating tonight, when this group of people came up, one of them asked for a go. so being all sweet with mates and knowing a couple of them i obliged.

anyway he started shredding, and i kept saying dude you're riding the board backwards. and he said nahh man the bigger kick is the front.

    Is this true?

I always thought the smaller kick was the nose and the larger for the tail considering there would be more potential for pop etc..

    answer anybody?
    cheers

The bigger side is the nose of the board, and smaller the tail. Why? Because when you Ollie/Do tricks, you want more surface area in the front of the board to spin/flip it. Basically, more area for your foot to grab a hold of the Griptape

The tail is square, at least for me anyway.

Anyone ever tried one of those Mystery symmetrical decks? I've always wanted to try one but have never found one locally.

okay understand that logic, does it effect your flips and skating much anyway? or is it just the ability to flip faster?

I'd been known to ride my boards backwards from time to time (back when I skated regular streetboards...) Now I have a designated "front and back" to even my symmetrical boards.

Nose is always a bit larger and slightly mellower on most decks these days.

I usually just grab a rock or something and scratch a line 3/4 of the way down the deck on the tail side personally. That way its super easy to tell.

the bigger end is the nose.

not gonna lie, seeing people skate a board backwards bugs the hell out of me.
