    Red face Longboarding?

So i've been skating for sometime now and i see so many of my friend switching over longboarding and it seems to be getting pretty popular. I've got a ton of boards already but i'm thinking of getting a longboard just to mess around on and see what the craze is a ll about. so which longboard do you guys think would be a good cheap option to start out with? i'm thinking of picking up the Atom Pintail Longboard just to mess around with. What do you guys think of longboarding? is this a good board to start with on a cheap budget?

Longboarding is great but not cheap

I also wouldn't recommend getting a pintail because you can't do much on them besides cruise around

Don't get that board. The brand "Atom" has pretty much the same quality as WalMart boards. If you could tell us your budget and what you're planning on doing (Downhill, FreeRide, Cruise, etc.), I can help you decide on a set-up.

Earthwing is a cheaper company. Look t some of their decks. Also you may find a Comet board you like.

Ya, I wouldn't go for a deck with no kick tail at all either as a first longboard. It's nice to be able to manual some. Get more of a larger all around cruiser to play with then go for the drop deck or pintail if you really get serious about bombing.

Longboards are cool. I just bought a set of Abec 11 Grippins to bring my longboard back to life. They're fun to bomb hills and cruise around on. I think they've gotten a bit of a bad rep over the last few years. Namely for the fat **** fratboy types who roll around all awkward and slow in their flip flops. Guys are doing some really cool ****, I like watching people freeride. I'm an old bastard street skater but I'm looking at getting into that game.

My school campus is one giant hill and you are either blasting your glutes to walk up them or you can go flying down them. The campus police don't really give a hoot that people skate it all the time. Some places can tend to be sketchy so I've always found longboards handle it all a bit better. You can look at churchhill mfg for some cheap boards or completes. I just moved and I don't have space for my extensive hoarding collection so if you'd like to get something decent pretty cheap you can ask me about it. There's also a thread here dedicated to longboarding and everyone (but me) who posts in their knows their ****.

Yes. You can pose on a longboard; even dance.

I pose all the time. I'll stand on the bottom of a hill and say things like "Oh, the sun's in my eyes...can't skate today!" or "The wind is too strong, I can't slide." The worst days are when the asphalt is the wrong temperature and I can't thane.

But then again, that's why I buy pre-thrashed gear...That way, I look like I skate even when I'm posing.
