Alright, son. You have my approval. Just make an honest woman out of her, someday.

That kind of talent just amazes me! I do NOT see Parker doing that.........LOL I think kids like that have a combination of a natural talent anyways, paired with parents who make them practice 24/7. LOL I'm sure they enjoy practicing though, they seem to love what they're doing. Now I want to buy Parker a banjo! haha

I always have an acoustic in the back of my car, just because you never know when a jam session is going to start up at someones house. Also it's fun to have to pass around when hanging out at a fire and whatnot

Anybody have experience DIYing a parts stratocaster? I've had mine in the shop for over 6 months now and the tech hasn't touched it yet.

WUT?? I'd never leave anything at a shop for over 2 weeks without demanding it back as is and taking it elsewhere. There have to be other options, sometimes even a guy at a pawn shop will take some cash from you to do a simple repair or two. Those guys get pretty handy at fixing the usual problems common to used guitars.

Putting together a partscaster can't be hard... Seriously.

Bolt on the neck, arrange the pickguard and electronics, screw everything in and you're basically set. Either way 6 months is ridiculous. You could make a guitar from a block of wood in that time. A partscaster should take a few days at most to get setup/fretwork/etc right.

    ok
any relationship that matters - a friendship, a family, a romance, a band - anything - is a perilous and fragile thing because along with all the amazing experiences and creations that can come from something so intimate and exhausting comes the possibility for things to crumble and shatter or whither and die. when that happens, it's easy to forget what was precious amidst all the disaster. we should always carry our history with us but never let it bury us.

I've heard horror stories about car repair and body shops that keep a car for that long just so they can cannibalize it for parts to use on repairs for other customers. They play this musical chairs game with the parts. When you go in and make a stink they'll then harvest some parts from someone else's rig to make yours complete again to return or finally finish. I'd be seriously taking a close look at the stuff they give you back to be sure it is what you gave them or better..

    What I have:
Body (grounded, trem arm, output jack)
    Neck
    Pickguard
    Pickups

    What I need:
    Tuners
    All the wiring (caps, pots)
    General assembly and setup

The kicker is that it's in the shop that I work in (skateshop in the back of a guitar store), so I still get employee discounts on labor and parts. If I truly did it myself, I'd have to pay full price on all the bits.

That's not too bad. In terms of the assembly, you can totally do that yourself. Wiring and setup I would let the shop do. You'd be surprised how many people I deal with that try to set up their own guitar and end up stripping the truss rod/various different ridiculous things.
