Default July 2013 MOTM: NoSwitch Interview!!!!

    Name: Charles
    Where you live: Durham, NC
    Age:<50
Year you got into skateboarding: Around 1975

1.Do you still have my portrait?? (From Andrew Jay)

No, etched on my mind forever though babe <3

2.Describe your perfect sandwich. Be as sensual as you need to be.

My wife when I met her, me, my wife now.. Or, PBJ if we're being literal.

    3. How long do you think Honey Boo Boo and her family will live?

Folks like that usually die of heart failure in their early 60s

    4. How does it feel to reach such a lofty achievement?
Is your life complete now that you are both member of the month and a mod?
    Whats next for Noswitch?

It was nice being asked to delete spam and ban people. That happens when you flag too many things I guess. Next I may actually learn how to do those things

    5. Are you bald, or do you shave your head?

Both. Takes me 15 minutes to get from the bed to the office ready to work :-P

6.how many pairs of shoes is enough? is there a number where you'll stop collecting?

I've really slowed down on that. Ran out of room and money with MrsNoswitch currently out of work.

    7. Which members would you be most inclined to hang out with? Classic question.

Not playing favorites, but really anyone. Most likely will be the NC folks. Folks I seem to gel with are the other older folks like NOJ, Xgecko, most folks over 30 here. And, of course AJ.

8.So, you are old. Do you eat tapioca sitting on a recliner with your wife's freshly knit quit over you watching the news? That is what my grandpa does.

"GET THE FUCK OFFA MY LAWN!!"

    9. Viagra or Cialis?

    Mrs Noswitch ;-)

    10. NoSwitch, when can we get up and skate. I feel old being the only guy at the skate park who grew up watching skate videos as actual videos (VHS).

I actually did most of my skating before even VHS was popular. I don't get out much to skate lately, used to be able to sneak out to the park for lunch, but not lately. I avoid it when it is crowded on weekends or evenings. Always up for bombing a hill around the neighborhood though. If any of my kids decide to skate more seriously I'll definitely take them. My daughter drug her board out yesterday for the first time in about a year. I got all emotional about that hahaha.

11.what is your favourite skate vhs?

    Skateboard Madness

12.Have you ever fast forwarded a Rodney Mullen freestyle part?

Hell no. frame by frame isn't slow enough to check out that sickness.

13.What is a trick you would love to do but can't?

Ollie, never got it worked out..

14.Have you ever fell for a skateboarding marketing/gimmick? Elaborate

My first expensive board was a waffle top fiberglass deck. Thought it would not need grip tape. Boy was I wrong. Worst part is grip tape wouldn't stick well so it was a gummy mess of slippery disaster.

15.How do you get turned on? Does it take more than a pic of Andrew Jay?

No, no low T here. Good to be married!

    16. from the sole basis of your posts i picture you as a bald dude in their forties slashing through the deep end of a backyard pool with a jfa mixtape playing in the background, i also picture you with a chain neckless, ripped jeans and a white tee over a beer belly, who only rides their skateboard in street settings when looking for the next house to break into the backyard of, slappy grinding gazillons of curbs in the process on an alva-signed bart simpson skateboard, how far am i from the truth ?

17.Noswitch, after you are done watching Giligans island or Leave it to Beaver, do you prefer reading a newspaper or taking a nap after this activity?

    Nap FTW!

    18. if you could go back in time and eat one meal you had in the past which would it be and why?

Shakeys Pizza Birthday Party. That place was da bomb. I think there may still be some around.

    19. which country would you live in if you had to leave the U.S now and why?

Canada for the healthcare and general welfare. I also love to snow ski.

20.If you knew you had cancer & wanted to provide for your family after your death, would you cook and sell meth to do it?

No. Perhaps I'd sell a kidney though.

    21. What challenges have you faced over the years ( pertaining to skating, injury, no time etc.)?
Did you actively seek to overcome them or were they just a matter of time?
What,if anything, would you have done differently as a skater in the past?

I have very little free time, almost none. If the kids aren't doing it I am not either. Lucky for me they like a lot of things I also enjoy, beach, camping, fishing, bikes, soccer, etc.. Empty nest is 8 years away and there will be ample time to play more how I want then. I wish I hadn't stopped skating during the period of age 16 to age 20.

    22.Paraphrase your autobiography.

    Play, Party, Work, Family....????

23.What would you recommend younger skaters? Like, stretching or taking it easy and skating more tranny to prolong skate life, or to get it all, to quit or not.

Make the most of what is available to you then branch out to other things when it gets boring.

24.Do you have any regrets? In general, give some life advice. Something you wish you did and you blew it and never got to or didn't do it well enough.

Should have slowed down the party life in the late 20s instead of late 30s.

25.Do you have any skate friends still? Describe your average skate day/anytime you go skate.

I have tons of skate friends and all of them post here. My average skate day now is just a roll around the block and re-bombing a hill a couple times, then head home.

    26. shout outs

Dog Town for keeping this place running. RS for helping with the heavy lifting. Everyone that hangs out here in the SC community. There is really no one here that I dislike

Hell yeah, that was pretty cool.

I'm curious though, about the "waffle top fiberglass deck" I've never heard of that... was it not supposed to have griptape or what?
