    Default Haiku Thread

    I thought it would be a fun thread. Haiku are pretty easy to write and don't require a crazy grasp of poetry to have fun with.

    For those who don't know, a haiku is a traditional Japanese poetry format broken in to 3 lines consisting of 5 syllables, 7 syllables and then 5 syllables again. For example:

    This is a haiku
    And this is the second line
    Now it is finished.

    Traditional Japanese haiku generally deal with the subject of nature and emotion and include an element of juxtaposition (contrasting images). The westernised version doesn't tend to conform to these themes and can be about pretty much anything!

    So with that in mind I think I will go first (I expect this thread to sink but Coleman, you need to represent!):

    A childs lost kite flies;
    Miscarried on a warm breeze
    To its tree top tomb.
    "Hail Caesarean"
