    Cool An Australian Longboard Adventure

Starting in January two other James Madison University students and myself will head to Australia to longboard 2,000 kilometers up Australia's east coast to raise money for Operation Smile. We will be taking a route that goes through Australia's most populated and mountainous land. The plan is to start in Melbourne and finish in Brisbane. The trip will be completely unsupported meaning we will carry all gear (tents, food, and other equipment) with us as we ride. The goal is to do the trip in 60 days, but we want to include a lot of adventurous activities other than longboarding in this trip as well.

We're all rather new to longboarding, but not to adventure. We have one team member who biked across the country and raised over $6,000 for cancer research. That same team member and myself have also kayaked from Virginia to the Gulf of Mexico. The third guy kayaked from Virginia to Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The charity we are raising money for does cleft lip, cleft palate, and other facial deformities reconstructive surgery mostly on children. On average one surgery takes about 30 minutes and costs $240. These surgeries have a huge positive impact on the receiver's life. To date Operation Smile has completed over 200,000 surgeries. So far we've raised over $1,000 for the cause and we've only just begun getting the word out.

So far we've already attracted a couple sponsors. They have aided us by either supplying equipment for the trip, giving us things to give to our followers, giving money to help us cover things like airfare or food, or donating to through us to Operation Smile.

If this trip sound interesting, give us a follow and keep up to date with all that is happening. Thanks and have a great day!

I've heard of operation smile. It is a good cause assuming those links are legit and actually go to the real charity and not some shadow site.

    Good luck!
