    Default Appalachian Sunset

Weather was nice tonight, me and some homies decided to hang at one of our favorite cliff spots to enjoy the weather and watch the sunset. Lighting got really intense for a split minute, 3rd photo down is actually 100% raw/no processing at all.

I wish I had enough rep power to give you a sun for that. My daughter and I LOVE that spot and the others around Hanging Rock.

This actually isn't hanging rock! I've actually never watched a sunset from hanging rock, moore's knob or cooks wall. I try to avoid low-light hiking if I can because I'm not particularly a fan of some of the wildlife that roams around (Black bears, bobcats, Coyotes etc). This spot is a short walk from where you park your car. I've watched the sun RISE from Raven knob, though.

Nice! 10 miles over. I guess when the days get shorter it is easier to catch a sunset without getting locked in..

So, Pilot offers essentially the same view we get from Hanging Rock and Moore's without requiring the 2 mile 1,500'-2,000' vertical climb eh? I dub that "Lazy Lookout"! Woot woot! Sounds like a good side trip on a day when we're burned out on the harder hiking..

Yeah, pilot is where I go if I'm feeling lazy. I can be up on top of the mountain in a shorter amount of time than it takes me to get to work some days, so it's easy. Hanging rock is a better overall experience than pilot though

You live in some beautiful country. I'll admit though then I hear "Appalacia" I get mental images of "Deliverance".
