    Default Cooking Thread.

Lately I've been doing a "Big Cook" once a week and posting pics online. So I thought I'd start a thread where we could share our cooking or at least pictures of our cooking. Here's what I made this week:

It's Rum Soaked Bajan Chicken with Cuban Black Bean Soup.

I had a brewing kit in my 30s. Gave it all to a friend when I moved from TX to NC. He enjoyed brewing even more than I did. It's definitely fun to dabble with hops and yeast..

I always wanted to try brewing beer. I had an idea about adding weed extract to a coffee stout and calling it "Hippie Speedball Coffee Stout".

I wonder if you could brew with marijuana buds instead of hop cones...

I barrel-aged the beer, so tonight, we're smoking some turkey on the BBQ using the beer-soaked barrel staves. Lotta cool, sugar smells going on!

I pass Red Oak several times a year on various leisure trips. I gave up drinking alcohol 20 years ago though. One's too many and twenty aren't enough. Best for me to just let that buzz go.

Combining weed and beer? Where's the fun on that? One in each hand was the way I rolled.

Nice. Personally I'm a fan of whiskey barrel aged beers. Lagunitas has a rye barrel aged coffee stout that combines two of my favorite beer types. I can only drink one bomber of it since it's like 11% alcohol.

What I really should look up more of is pairing. For me on the most basic level making Caribbean food is pairing it with Red Stripe.

The Black Bean Soup I made at the top of the thread had Drakes Black Robusto Porter and Myers Rum in it. I figured Dark Beer and Dark Rum, with Black Beans. Plus the chicken called for Dark Rum too.

Noswitch since you stopped drinking do any cooking with wine etc?
