any relationship that matters - a friendship, a family, a romance, a band - anything - is a perilous and fragile thing because along with all the amazing experiences and creations that can come from something so intimate and exhausting comes the possibility for things to crumble and shatter or whither and die. when that happens, it's easy to forget what was precious amidst all the disaster. we should always carry our history with us but never let it bury us.

Motherfuckers! it's like old home week now. I figured I'd check in after I filled out my timesheet online. As for me I just turned 46 last week.

I bought like $30 worth of Halloween candy, decorated the house with a graveyard, fog machine, adult and child skeleton, kid had a trick or treat bucket, strobe light black light, etc.. And we only had like 30 total kids come by.. Leftover candy should last for years.. That's why I buy the stuff I like hahahaha! I'll put most of it in the Christmas stockings..

In my neighborhood, the families with kids went to schools or designated Trick or Treat areas. Total trick or treater count this year: 0.
Maybe is doesn't help that I sit on my porch in the evening drinking and vaping and yelling "Get off my lawn!" to nobody in particular.

I bought a bag of candy just in case.... Like NoSwitch I bought stuff I like (heath toffee bars). I'm set through Thanksgiving.

In case you're wondering... The current stash is Makers Mark (bourbon), Glenfiddich 12 (scotch), Green Spot (Irish whiskey).

Makers was my go to special occasions drink for many years. I first discovered it in the late 80s at a cousin's wedding in Kentucky. I bought a case of it to bring back to NY where I was living at the time. Not long after it was available pretty much everywhere.

Yes, Makers is a classic bourbon suited to those with sweet tooth. There's lots of good bourbons out there... other faves include Basil Hayden, Buffalo Trace, and Blantons. Blantons was my go to until the prices spiked up from the $50 range past $100.... I see it at Total Wine for $220 now. It's good, but not that good.

I also like the Irish Whiskeys for a change up. I'm just getting a taste of what's out there. I started with Jamison... which is the classic. Other flavors I've tried include Red Breast 12 and Green Spot. There's tons more....

I'm poking around the Scotch world, Dalmore, Glenfiddich, Glenlivet, McCallen, Monkey Shoulder... I haven't found one that I really like. I have an unopened bottle of Lagavulan waiting for a taste.

So many whiskeys, so little time... especially when ya drink only 1 -2 onces at a time.

Friend of mine's husband got a part time job at the liquor store just to get better access to the latest hip indy brand bourbons when they come in before other folks buy it all. No shit LOL..

    Hello mate,

My go-to Whiskey is Hibiki or Hakushu, both by House of Suntory.

    Lovely.
