Also, confirmed from more than one friend who has had the virus themselves, they're counting re-tests as new cases in daily numbers, just a FYI for everyone. My friends in Nashville were told by their doctors to not go get re-tested bc the daily case numbers don't reflect number of individuals, just number of positive tests returned. So there's actually no telling how many actual people currently have it.

Which is real fun to hear as someone who lost his career indefinitely over this virus and is now rationing groceries and skipping meals to try and make the budget work out while I work part time at Starbucks and pay rent on credit cards lmao

Wish I could just go to sleep and not wake up for a few months. My life has been more or less completely falling apart. I'm tired, man. Being American blows.
Love you bro, stay strong and get through this the best you can

Memes are the digital equivalent of:

Now I sit here broken hearted,
Came to shit but only farted,
Then one day I took a chance,
Tried to fart and shit my pants.

I miss early/middle memes. Memes died when they started showing up on the shelves at Target.

Man, I'm trying to figure out where this thread is headed... lol....

It's been in the high 90s - low 100s for about 4 days now, so I'm just hiding from the heat and the Rona...

Just returned from a week long, 2500 mile family road trip to move my oldest in to college. Fingers crossed I won't be hopping a flight there to rent another big vehicle and move him out and back home before the end of the school year.. or in a week like UNC Chapel Hill just did... Damn!

Yeah. Fortunately it only got up to 95 here and dropped 15 degrees after the thunder storms.

Hey NoSwitch, Where is the kiddo going to college (what state)? Did he move all the way to the left coast? Wait a 2500 mile round trip would put him in the mid west... hell... I don't know.

Yup, the thunderstorms may have brought relief from the temps, but they also brought lightning. There are now multiple fires around the bayarrhea... so many that it's smokey and hazy outside and the sunlight has a yellow tint to it. Good thing I use to smoke, doesn't bother me too much... Lol....

Yeah. The air quality right now makes cigarettes look like vitamin pills.

Eat, sleep, shit, work, repeat. I'm currently reading the book "The Faith Healers" by James Randi. At the same time it is sad, hilarious, disgusting, and infuriating.

We're all enthusiastically watching the RNC show!

Lol... Actually, I didn't watch the DNC show last week either. Glad Biden picked Harris because while there was disappointment and some angst from the progressive wing, I think she'll sell OK with swing voters in the more conservative parts of the US.

Working a lot actually. For the weekend I smoked a couple of pork shoulders. For prep I slathered the meat with yellow mustard as a binder then added a generous layer of rub from texasbbqrub.com. Good stuff... spicy, sweet, with a little bit of heat. I put the pork shoulders in the smoker on Saturday night and pulled them out of the smoker after 15 hours. Finished off the coals by smoking some really nicely marbled beef chuck ribs on Sunday. Those things were huge. For the beef ribs, I used kosher salt, course ground pepper, a little dried minced garlic and dried minced onion for seasoning... the same stuff I use when I smoke a brisket. Those ribs turned out great.

Shared some with a coworker and a neighborhood friend. We ate like kings... or more accurately... like a cavemen... I had mine with a beer. No complaints... except it's still pretty smokey outside here in the South Bayarrhea. I asked a buddy if I should just put the meat on the porch and drink until the meat was done....

I'm so tempted to make a gay joke about that.

I made a big pot of Gumbo a couple of weeks ago.

But yeah the air quality in the East Bay is sucking pretty hard too since it seems like we have fires on 3 sides. There was a nice westerly breeze the other day when I went out to pick up my morning coffee and empanadas and I could smell the ocean for a few minutes. I sleep with my windows open so it's kinda like sleeping next to a campfire.

Every time I hear the term "Wind Event" all I can think of is that George Carlin line "HOLY SHIT WHERE CAN I GET TICKETS FOR THAT!!!!"

I've been watching the highlights of the Republican Convention. When the couple who went out to greet protesters with their firearms said "We have to be careful about radical Democrats" I had to wonder what fucking planet they beamed in from. Biden and Harris are hardly "Radical Democrats". Biden has all of the charisma of a fried egg and is middle of the road as fuck.

One of my coworkers is a Born Again Christian Trump supporter who tried proselytizing me a couple of weeks ago. I overheard her warning a coworker that Socialism comes in steps and we want Capitalism. I couldn't help but think that Jesus was a Socialist. If he was a capitalist he wouldn't have thrown the money changers from the temple. He would've set up his own money changing table with a competitive exchange rate and a celebrity endorser. He also wouldn't have made enough Loaves and Fishes to feed everyone. He would've set up a Loaves and Fishes stand, and made just enough to keep the demand up and price gouge. He also would have a bad hairpiece, polyester suit, bitchin' choir, and a long mailing list for his faith healing.

It's weird a couple of months ago I predicted that there's going to be another round of church scandals. In the last month I've seen Jim Bakker on the news for shilling anointed water that cures COVID, Kenneth Copeland in front of a packed house with no masks Screaming COVID loud enough to infect the first five rows, and now Franklin Graham.

Busy like hell at work. 2 weeks on, 2 days off. Working for a known exploitative organization in the hospitality industry. I was told that I was hired on to help close out construction on the brand new building, establish local contractors and trade partners, and work with the general contractor to establish operation and maintenance procedures...but, I'm doing more janitorial stuff than administrative.
