Yeah, to me it's all the muffling and smoothness that is the actual tricky part.

I've played clarinet, mastered bass clarinet, and been playing guitar and some bass. I suck at piano though =/

I'm good on bass and guitar (I can improvise and all that), not the best on drums, but I can keep a steady beat and do simple fills. Harmonica, I can do twelve bar blues and make it sound like a train, trumpet-wise I can't play anything, still learning to make sound. Vocally I am decent, not really high, but I can hold a few notes

See with guitar, what you really need to do (if you're doing a lot of improvising), is to just nail the modes and scales perfectly. You just gotta try to figure out what key you're starting in, and then you can just experiment with the modes and scales that you have previously learned. But you may want to figure out if the song is major or minor. That can make a big difference haha. Thats at least the way that I explain it to my students when I'm teaching them haha

That's tight that so many of you are involved with music. I focus on piano myself but I've also played a little guitar, trumpet, and saxophone.

    Music is a beautiful thing.

I think tomorrow I'll work on one of those guitar things where you play like thirty seconds of one song then you switch over to another one all smooth like

Making music is so sick. I still play guitar and used to play bass.

Piano is such a sick instrument, I used to play as a kid and never believed my parents when they said I would regret it when I grow up. I used to have a piano transcription of Jupiter by Gustav Holst, it was like the sickest piece to play..

    Yes for classical music.

Not really most stuff on bass is easy, but then you get bands like rush and black sabbath, muse, who have some really complex stuff

root notes = lazy bass playing, how a good bassist works with the drummer and the other instruments to create something that flows, pops and grooves underneath it all is one of the hardest things to do ever.

a great bassist is almost always a lot more subtle than a great guitarist.

    SkateboardG, you play bass?

Also, do you guys have any requests on what songs I should work into my collaboration?

    So far I'm thinking

    Back in Black - AC/DC
Fell in love with a girl - White stripes
    Cave - Mumford and Sons
Grapevine Fires - Death Cab for Cutie
    What's my age again - Blink 182
    Thunderstruck - AC/DC
    Float on - Modest Mouse
To Zanarkand - Final Fantasy X

    Stuff like that, any suggestions?
