Hate it when ****'s due at school after break. "You have 10 days to do it". Right, I'm gonna dedicate all of it to homework. Very first wordly problems, though, haha.

Got called into work here at 9:15pm. It is now 1:35am, waiting for water tanks to show up to temporarily fix the problem. Needless to say, I may get to go home by 4:00am, but will have to be back here at 5:00am, so that is pointless. Thank GOD for a McDonalds around the corner open 24 hours, gave me energy

Sister got more surgery the other day for her thyroid cancer. Apparently you can get your jugular veins removed (she got one taken out.) Crazy. She looks a lot better than she did after her last surgery, I thought she'd be bed ridden after this past one.

is it ending up in having the thyroid cut out? thyroid stuff normally has pretty positive outcomes even though it can feel pretty grim for everyone at the time.

She had her thyroid removed and some lymph nodes. The second surgery was more exploratory I guess, but they ended up finding more cancer so that's how it ended up. I know what you're saying with that second part, thyroid cancer is one of the easiest forms to treat the doctor told her. It's pretty weird, my brother in-law (her husband) had aplastic anemia and was given almost no chance of survival (twice), but he overcame it and now my sister is sick. Can't imagine how tough it is for them, you know? Long story short, cancer isn't fun. Hah

any relationship that matters - a friendship, a family, a romance, a band - anything - is a perilous and fragile thing because along with all the amazing experiences and creations that can come from something so intimate and exhausting comes the possibility for things to crumble and shatter or whither and die. when that happens, it's easy to forget what was precious amidst all the disaster. we should always carry our history with us but never let it bury us.
