Default gluing a rail to the sidewalk?

so ive got this grind rail that i rarely use because i dont really have anywhere to set it up on a regular basis. so im thinking of taking it down to this spot where a lot of people skate and gluing it to concrete to make it a permanent skate feature at this spot. what im wondering is, do you think something like liquid nails is strong enough to glue the rail to the concrete? i also thought i could get a little but of concrete and put the rails feet into that, but then there would be lumps at each end of the rail that might be a problem. any suggestions or ideas?

Does the rail have boots? If it does you can bolt it into the concrete. If it doesn't have boots than your best bet is to bust a hole in the concrete and quickcreting it in. Adhering it with an adhesive would be my last choice but if it is your last option USE EPOXY!

yeah its got feet. thats a good idea, it would be easy to drill though the metal and into the concrete and then i could cement the bolts in place, it would never move then.

I expected to come in here and read a bunch of hate comments like "why would you want to do that? That's retarded, thats bad for the rail. Glue isn't strong enough" etc. and if Hellview didn't say what he did, it probably would be because some idiot with a rep of a few suns would feel like being a jerk because they don't know, and then they rest of the posts would cascade down from that.

    Good job Hellview!

I never thought of using glue to stick a rail somewhere (I too have a rail that won't stand up on its own and I don't care to make stands for it)

get this thing called "gorilla glue" at home depot or some other place.
that stuff is seriously the strongest thing under the sun
although it takes many hours to dry but when it does itll hold.
you might want to get a few fast drying super glue to hold it in spot till the gorilla glue can dry

i tried to drill into the concrete out front of my apt to see my my drill was strong enough and its not. so im going to probably go with a combo of epoxy and cement. i think ill epoxy the bottom of the feet to the ground and then cover it with a just enough concrete that its not going to come loose. i think that the combo of the two would pretty much make it almost impossible for somebody to remove it without a serious fight.

Why would u do that? You should just take it back and forth because i bet some of those guys would like to put that handrail down some stairs.

hmmm...well you said it has those leg things right? like the ones that go out to the side? could you cut them out, then just have the straight pole and then drill like a centimeter deep hole into the concrete. then just concrete up around everyside of the pole and it should stick pretty good

the spot has no stairs. maybe like 1 step, but its already got a concrete thing that makes for a rail down that one step it that somebody put there. maybe ill cement the rail down the step!

I would ask the regulars that go there see where they would like it permanantly.

but the poxy/crete mix sounds good.
