I don't recommend skating with a longboard. They snap so easily. My friend made that mistake.

manual and nose manual. g turn. 180 pivots.

some longboards are more durable than others. some have flex more than others, so just make sure your board can endure the types of tricks that you're going to do!

Why buy a longboard if you're going to use it like a regular skateboard?

You mean like street tricks, or the longboard tricks influenced by surfing like dancing, sliding, etc.?

I have to agree with jakedaskater...leave your skateboard for skateboard tricks, and try longboard tricks with your longboard. Fully delve into sliding, dancing, cruising, carving, and hill bombing!

Sliding, carving, and nose riding (standing with both feet on the nose of the board) are my favorites.

My trick is going down hills real fast without turning. It's also fun to shove the rear end of the board into a slide when carving down hills. If I saw anybody do a kickflip on a longboard though, that's automatic kook status.

Don't forget cross-stepping. Hang-five, hang-ten, nose manuals. I like to surf, so I try some of the same moves.

There are some crazy videos on YouTube, which have people doing tricks on longboards. Most of them are like oversized skateboards (nothing ovre 40", it seems). I have a 46" pintail, so it would be a little more difficult for me.

I didn't realise the sort of stuff you could do on a longboard when I built mine, so i've got super soft Gumball wheels. Not ideal for things like Bert slides, which look really fun on longboards. Those and 180 pivot sort of things, working on balance etc are what I want to get into when I get back on the board, probably during the Summer, so maybe give those a shot. Just my two pence.

If you guys wanna do street stuff on a longboard look into getting a longskate. Stiff like a street deck only longer. Can do a lot of other things on a longskate too, like sliding, bombing some hills or parking garages with more control than a street setup, and a nice cruiser. Check out some of Gravity's boards, specifically the Brad Edwards 40".
