Default 7.75 trucks on 8 board?

I have trucks designed for a 7.75 (not sure the actual measurement, FORGIVE ME!) on a new 8" board. Feels kinda weird, but that could be cuz i'm on a new board, and 52mm wheels, which i'm not used to.
How much difference is it gonna make? I know I'll have less grind surface, and the wheels won't be flush..what else?

I think it's normal for trucks to be slightly smaller than the deck to minimize wheel bite and axle damage, except for freestyle decks.
