I have the same one. If you're getting the HD model, you better have some new-er computer software or it won't run. Regular def model isn't amazing, but it works.

No vids online mate, I'm making a biiiiiigggg edit of my skating over the years.. (It's already 45 minutes.. lol) But, it easily posts videos online. If you have trouble uploading, there's always online help via skaterscafe or where ever! oh, and the HD model:

Honestly, I would stay away from hard drive camera's. That's just my opinion. If you are looking for a HD camera, look into the HV20/HV30, They run a little higher but are definitely worth it. Also a lot of good things about GS320's, etc. That whole series, beginners usually use.

Get something HD. Good camcorder if you don't want hd, though.

that camera's good for people who barely know how to edit and film. but overall it kinda sucks. I had the sr46. The only good thing about it is that its really easy to use and has lots of hdd space.

Only in Wisconsin can you have heat stroke one day, then frost bite the next day.

If you want a good camera, just go with the HV20/HV30. If not, try a pan GS320.

Not only miniDV.. solid state is good, i never had a problem with my hard drive camera.. people think they're worse thsn they really are but it is safer staying away from them.

I'd take a hard drive cam over a miniDV any day. You have to realize that miniDV is shot on a strip of film, which can gather dust, and has a higher "compressed" look than a hard drive or solid state cam. You are recording data onto a 1/2" wide piece of tape, and transferring it back into a digital format. There is obviously going to be a lot of artifacts in your final .avi or .mov file. That's why shooting green screen with tape (miniDV) is a very bad idea. Hard drive or solid state cameras shoot digital, so there is no transferring of data where artifacts appear and whatnot. Plus, there is no worry of losing a tape or any need to watch the whole tape over to get the video file.

Also, the hard drives in HDD cameras are tiny and light, they are really not as likely to break as you think. There is obviously padding or some special mechanism to keep it filming in shaky conditions. Do you really think they would keep making them and releasing them at such high prices if they broke in a couple seconds?

Example: Think of an iPod Classic. That thing has an HDD that is probably bigger than that of an HDD camera. I have seen people drop their Classics so many times, yet they still work completely fine.

Thats not all true, HDD record in a weird format, atleast mine did. And i had to convert the files of every clip i wanted to use just to get it into a normal editing program, then you have to export it which usually means you change it again.

Not all of them do. Hard drive is most likely a better choice than flash drive if you don't drop it or throw it on account of it's value compared to flash. If you do have to convert it's extremely simple, just download windows media encoder then encode any video format to mpg or whatever else you need.

If you wanted my recommendation on a camcorder, then look into the JVC GZ-HD300. For $500, the HD quality is unbeatable and it has a 60 gig hard drive.

Here's some footy at kalamazoo (skate zoo) skatepark with the GZ-HD300:

Yeah HDD's suck. They record in there own gay formats. But the only advantage of them is you don't have to worry about wasting tapes.
